The "seed" is Jesus Christ when he destroys Satan. Satan bruised Jesus in the heal, figuritively speaking, by having him put to death. However, Jesus was resurrected, so the "bruising of the heal" represented an injury that would be minor compared the Satan's being bruised in the head, a large injury which would cause his death.

Here are the symbolic characters of that verse and their meaning:

Serpent= Satan the Devil

Serpent's seed = all those taking sides with Satan, humans or demons.

Woman = God's heavenly organization. Many think that this woman is Mary. However, the prophecy says that there would be enmity between the woman and the serpent and his seed. The Bible doesn't mention any direct conflict between Mary and the serpent's seed. Therefore, the woman is referring to someone else: God's heavenly organization, Jerusalem above, who figuratively mothered Jesus and his spiritual brothers (Galatians 4:26)

The woman's seed = Jesus and his spiritual, annointed brothers.

Enmity exists between Satan and Jesus spiritual brothers (see Revelation 12:17)

A seed is something you plant in the ground and it grows. God is saying to go out and throw seeds at snakes.

The "seed" is the offspring of man. In this case he is talking about the Son of God who would come to earth in human form and by dying on the cross, where he assumes the sins of mankind, and being raised from the dead, destroys the power of Satan (the snake) over humankind.

Excuse me, He says that "the seed of the woman will crush the head of the snake."

Means Jesus will (did) win the battle over satan trying to own us all.

The "seed" was a direct reference to the Messiah, Jesus.
Jesus in his death and ressurection has brought about the demise of the Adversary, Satan.

That is known as the PROTO-EVANGELION.

It is thought as the first prophecy concerning the MESSSIAH.

It speaks of CHRIST crushing the head of the serpent (Satan) and the serpent (Satan) bruising HIS (CHRIST'S) heel.

The "SEED OF THE WOMAN (Mary)" is CHRIST being conceived of the HOLY SPIRIT and born of the virgin Mary.

The bruising of CHRIST'S heel is the Crucifixion.

The crushing of Satan's head is Satan's final defeat at the end of the age and it can, also, be construed as CHRIST'S resurrection.
