The main reason atheist claim there is no God is because there is no logical reason to believe that there is one, in the sense that Christain/Jewish/Muslim doctrines represent. Just consider the fact that there are literally dozens upon dozens of different faiths, each claiming direct connections with the "one true god". Obviously, all of these religions cant be right, which means at least some, if not all are not correct. It would be logically flawed not to mention somewhat arogant to automatically assume that the God you worship is any more correct than anyone elses...even Greek Mythology or Pagan Deities.

One the other hand, any casual observer of scientific theory, particularly biology would have to note an organization and compexity that seems to defy mere random happenstance....so the most practical standpoint should be agnostic rather than atheist.

They say there is no scientific proof that God exists. But there's also no scientific proof to disprove his existence. We are left with no proof either way so we have to make up our own minds, that's the way it's supposed to be. We either believe or we don't. More recent scientific research, particularly in physics, suggests that our universe might exist independently, without need of a God. It might have procreated itself. But that doesn't mean there isn't one. I'm not sure if atheists believe in the devil or not but the same can be said for him. Despite all this, there is scientific proof of miracles. On average, we can expect to experience an event with the odds small enough to be considered a miracle every 1.4 months. So if the existence of God is a miracle, could that prove his existence?

The term is "atheist" and the main reason I believe there is no god because there is no proof, except for biased religious works, that a god exists. It is not valid to believe that there is a god until evidence is found to the contrary, because under that logic a person should believe in unicorns, leprechauns, and flying spaghetti monsters as well.

A complete lack of tangible evidence. Blind faith just isn't a good and logical proof. Why do religious people claim there is a god? They have nothing to show us to convince us except 5000 years of war and bloodshed...... no the best of reasons to believe. It strikes me that god inspires more hatred than love. Quite silly and should be kept away from children and the gullible.

Why would I claim that there is? I have no reason too...

I have lived a wonderfully happy, satisfying life so far...I have great friends, I do good in school, and I am dedicated to a sport. I have created all this for myself using my own strength instead of looking to the sky and begging for help from some all knowing deity.

You beleive what you will, and I will beleive in what I will. There is no need to try to convert each other or to try to figure out why someone beleives what they do. Just accept them and everyone will be happier for it.

Well, they have a very good reason. They cannot see any proof of Him. To a scientist, that only means that there is an unknown. To the typical internet Atheist, it's proof that there isn't a God. So much for Atheists being believers of fact.

My brother is atheist and he grew up going to church with me and my mother all the time, but when my father left us he went down hill. Most of the time it's because of something so dramatic in the persons life that makes them think there is no God because they have been 'let down' by him, yet it's not being let down but it's an event of their life plan. Sometime it's because of home problems, school problems or just not being raised in a religious family. But just remember you can't force a God or any religon on them. You can show them things and hope for the best but they have to decide for themselves that they want a higher power in the life.

I am atheist. I do not claim there is no God. The atheist that claim there is no God are probably saying that there is no modern christian concept of God. I agree with that 100%.
Bible god does not exist thats for sure(philosophically inconsistent with reality).......but if there is a God or not, i have no idea.

The quote that come to mind is one by Stephen F Roberts, and it goes- “I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.”

i BELIEVE there is no god because there is soo much history in the world, and other examples of previous religeons.
i came to the belief that with all that has been discovered, anyone who chooses just one cannot be anything but naive in the slightest degree.
i am open to whatever happens, if it is shown to me that Odin celtic god with his one eye is the true creator then i will believe.
but until that day(if it ever comes) i will go on being me accepting all in polite conversation. not pushing one way or the other.
