There are many different classification for airplanes. Probably the broadest classification will be military and commercial. For military planes, there are fighter, bomber, transport, surveillance, UAV, etc For commercial planes, they are classified into propeller powered or jet powered. From here further classification into range, seating capacity, size etc comes in. So there are too many to try to list.
