I think you owe it to yourself and your friend to let her know. Instead of wasting the both of your time's. There no good way to say things like this but to just come out and say it. The question you need to ask yourself is.. how will I feel personally after i tell her?

Try make the most of it, theres a saying that goes "if life gives you lemons, ask for tequila n salt" (i know theres also another one but i like this one more!). meaning you should look at the situation in a positive mind n see how best you can make it a better situation than what it is currently, everything can change if your in the right frame of mind for it... you just gotta try connect into that frame of mind. Or if that dont work then you can look at the situation and think to yourself "why do i not like this person anymore", once you figure that out you can either approach this someone and have a "chat" to them n see if you guys can work around those little problems n make the situation better for both you and them... if that don work, well then its time for a change... why do you "have to" pass most of your time with this "friend"?

There are innumerable ways e.g. T.V., reading the books of your like subjects, helping in house work, necessary shopping, cultivate your skill in developing some hobby and last but not least, there are various NGO and social service organisations-where people are giving their free time to get the work done without taking any payment-a sort of honorary work-here you will mingle with good people, share their views, help the needy people to solve their problems and gain the work satisfaction and within a very short time you gain a lots of experience and also get the blessing of God and needy people. A time given for good work never goes in vain.
God bless you.

Take up a new activity. Start being busy. Start meeting new people.

The Duh answer - don't hang out with that friend anymore.
