I live in AZ and the latest statistics from our Corrections Department state that there are about 3,000 illegals (almost all mexicans) in our prisons. At an average cost of $25,000. per year....you do the math. And, by the way, think of the number of illegals in the prison systems of CA, TX, NM, etc. etc. The total costs are staggering.

The taxes spiraling up because we finally enforce immigration enforcement and closing our boarders. I would like to add one thing. Somehow this whole immigration issue has become about Mexicans. Have we forgotten that we are at war with terrorists? I mean let's get real here for a moment. If 20 million illegal immigrants can get in (per another question posted), how are we suppose to protect our citizens?

I'm thinking that the deportation of illegals will take a huge burden off our tax system. In addition, we need to cut all aid to Mexico. A nation with the resources and commerce that they DO have has NO business taking handouts from the US.

By the time you add up those two items alone, we not only would be in the black, financially....but we would be in a position to cut back taxes. That puts money back in our pockets, which we spend here, which continues to stimulate the economy, which could put us in a huge WIN WIN situation.

Mexico, for all that it does have going for it, seems to "poor mouth" to the United States and to the churches here that send aid....ALL THE TIME!

Wiser? Remove illegals. It is so obvious...

How is this racist at all? It's a well-known fact that illegal immigrants are draining our economy. Illegal immigrants aren't just hispanics. Europeans have been known to make a home in America and evade the government... and have been for years (For example: The Irish).

I think supporting immigration enforcement is a *great* idea. Why should hard working Americans have to pay taxes for people who are living in the USA and on welfare? We have enough welfare recipients that are citizens without having to worry about people who are dodging immigration laws.

So again... how is this racist?

Heh, immigration enforcement costs money. Guess where the funding will come from? Read my lips: New Taxes.

Also, you might've heard of this little conflict going on in a place called Iraq. Funding the war effort will also cause taxes to rise.

Our taxes are going to be spiralling up due to issues other than immigration anyway.
