I'm all for seeing the banks and other lending institutions that have aided and abetted illegals being taken to federal court and being put out of business for good...
Taking down Enron put the other bigwigs on notice, doing the same to a couple of these banks wouldn't be half-bad idea.
If they wanna do business in foreign countries, that's one thing...doing this crap in the US, um, 'NO'.

There is an element of American society who are perpuating the problem because they have figured out how to profit from and prey upon the hopes and dreams of the down trodden and poor in other countries.
There are loan officers and Realtors who specialize in helping illegal immigrants buy homes, often falsifying documents, SSN cards, etc for them. There are employers who are knowingly hiring illegal immigrants and paying them cash, without deducting taxes or paying them health benefits. And most of the people doing this are American citizens. Theyare the true criminals.
Think of this from the illegal immigrants side - you are living in Mexico, or another central or south american country, living in squalor, making a whopping $0.11/hour. Your government is basically corrupt and the drug cartels and unethical corporations pretty much run everything. If just one of your family braves the crossing to the US and finds even a minimum wage job, they can send back enough money to raise your standard of living three fold or more.
To top it off, there are people in the USA who know how to work the system, who can help you live there, and even buy property, something you will never, ever be able to do in your home country. Isn't it worth the risk? It would be for me. It would bring my family a better life, despite the risks. Isn't that what we all want?
The "problem" should have been curtailed and controlled decades ago, but it wasn't. Now we have to live with the fact that they are here, and and concentrateon damage control. First step - go after those who are enabling the illegals. Most of these illegals would gladly jump at the chance to become full, law abiding and more importantly, tax paying citizens in return for turning those people in who preyed upon their vulnerability (immigration status). Some of them are actually already paying taxes, albeit under a false SSN.

I say DEPORT; however, I'm not 100% opposed to Rexski's suggestion of a Conditional Amnesty - it's the best alternative idea I've heard, but only if ALL of the conditions that he lists are in the final package! And, NO EXCEPTIONS, if the conditions are NOT met within the very reasonable timeframe - then DEPORTATION with no possibility of EVER returning to the USA. Also, NO ability to vote EVER and NO ability to own guns of any kind. But, since I know how bad all the previous amnesty's worked out, I think deportation is really still the only reasonable solution to the illegal immigrant problem.

Deport, but not in massive amounts. That's not only prohibitively expensive, but practically not very feasble. Your best bet? Go after the dealer and the buyer....not just the buyer. Create laws that would not only fine employers of illegals, but include mandatory prison time for those who do not follow increased levels of due dilligence in insuring they hire only legal employees.
In 1986, the government passed a pussified version of this law that required all employers to have Social Security numbers on file for all employees. It was thought (on paper...no one really believed this), that if Social Security numbers were required, then only those will legally issued social security numbers would be able to work. It might have, had the law NOT omited a requirement that the Social Security numbers be VALID. There are literally millions of illegals using forged and fraudulent social security numbers, that you can pick up out side of any mexican consulate in the country for under $300.
Here's the amazing part. Currently Social Secuirty is aware of millions of SS numbers that do not match the names submitted with them....or are being used for multiple names. We've already collected the information. The SS office can give you an exact dollar amount to the penny of SS money paid by people using such numbers. . If you simply used this information that we ALREADY HAVE....and required Employers to hire only those employees who have numbers that match the names (under penalty of fines AND jail time), the jobs for illegals largely disappear.
We could create a database very similar to our mandatory checks for handgun purchases in this country, to verify a social secuirty number with a name, and verify that only ONE person is using that number and name at the same time....within minutes. Give an employer a 30 day window to submit a reasonable and VALID explaination for any legitimate discrepancies (like identity theft or simply mistake in processing), and you have a system that is fair to employer, and employee. And there's nothing you have to do but use the information we already have.
As the jobs dry up....the people abusing and leeching off of our system will deport *themselves*...the same way they got here.

I would like to see a CONDITIONAL amnesty given to all the illegals here now. (Assuming we are stopping more from coming in). The conditions ...
They must learn basic English.
They must learn some American history and culture.
They must be financially dependent, i.e., either employed or have a financial sponsor.
They must swear their allegiance to America and be signed up for the draft. (Within the draft eligibility guidelines)
They will have a FELONY conviction on their records so they can never posses a gun or vote, even if they become citizens.
They must do this within a time frame, such as 1 year. If they don't, or at least show effort after the time frame, they will be deported.
This will only work if we protect our borders. If we keep allowing them in, it's just a waste of time!

deport. At Ellis Island there was a control system. Plus, they didn't have all the social programs to enable some of them to take advantage of the system. They had to work for what they got. If they didn't they went hungry.

I say we deport all of the white trash and otherwise hateful racists and biggots. I'd rather have all of them out and keep the immigrants here.

no need to deport. They will deport themselves once they find that no employer will hire them, now that they have been heavily fined for employing illegals. They will go back on their own.
