I've currently got a wonderful adopted German Shepherd named Aurora, who's about a year old and 70 lbs. Her favorite (and only) playmate is a little two pound dog named Honey. They play together well, and while they can get rough sometimes, they always work it out. The owner of the little dog may need to find a new home for the puppy, and I volunteered to take it. I'm just worried about owning big dog and a small dog. Does anyone own dogs with such a big size difference, and how did it work out?
Thanks for your advice!

My mom actually has 2 German Shepard's that weigh 100 pounds each and a Chihuahua that weighs about 10 pounds, the chihuahua is almost 10 years old and pretty much ruled the house when my mom brought the German Shepard's home, well they were about her size when they were 4 months old and she is old and cranky, so they tried to play with her and she did not want to so she bit them on the nose, and till this day they are absolutely terrified of her. Even though that seems mean, my point is that they are all living together and they have no problems, the big dogs do not try to hurt the little one or anything, I think if they get along well together and can play with out hurting each other they will be fine together.

I had a 100 lb GSD and a 5 lb Chihuahua together for years. The GSD was older by 5 years than the smaller dog. He was very careful playing from the first day I brought the pup home. The puppy grew into a 5 lb terror and used to jump up and bite the big dog's nose. The small dogs usually don't know they're small, and the bigger dogs simply don't know what to do with him. The 5 lb dog used to bite the Shepard's paw, so he would pick up his foot and shake it, sending the smaller dog flying. I thought it was great fun to watch!

My husband had an Austrailian Shepherd male, I had a Pomeranian male. One day right after I came home from open heart surgery they were eating together. Suddenly the Shepherd attacked the Pom. I got them apart twice, but both times the Pom charged the Shepherd. The third time the Shepherd grabbed him by the neck and killed him.
2 male dogs is a bad idea.

as long as they're both youthful you mustn't have any complications. keep in recommendations, because the german shepherd receives larger, it ought to accidently damage the smaller dogs by skill of playing too difficult, so till that is previous sufficient to appreciate the chichahua isn't a toy, i'd supervise all time spent at the same time. maximum small dogs submit a huge dogs body of recommendations, so odds are, that is going to by no skill recognize that is genuine length besides, and examine out to take the german shepherd on as frequently as plausible.

I think your nazi dog might have a fun chew toy coming her way. Seriously though dont they have to grow up together to get along? Chihuahuas tend to have such a big ego, might get on your German Shepherds' nerves.

I have a pit bull and a miniature doberman. Dogs will do what dogs will do the size doesn't matter. My pit knows that if she gets too rough then the little one won't play anymore so she plays gentler with him. I also have cats and they don't seem to care how big the dog is they will play anyway.

It's not a problem at all! I have a 130 lb. german shepherd and a 16 lb. Pug. I also have an 8 lb. cat. They all get along VERY well.

I have a little dog who rules the roost around here...Her job is to keep the 5 huge dogs off the bed, off Daddy's chair, and out of the front seat of the car...She handles the job with ease.

They all respect her as if she were the queen bee.

Be careful - the Honey might kill Aurora. I mean, the german shepherd might choke on a chihuahua.
