I am doing research on people who are blind and it looks as if they look at objects such as a game controller and computer as if they can see what they are doing. It's as if they can see what they are doing. It's amazing how you can teach them something and they will remember what a particular function does. Any ideas?

I think they can some times see light or shadows. I think they are trying to see the object or maybe they are just paying attention to what you are saying. The blind are just like everyone else they just can't see. Some are smart some are not that smart just like everyone else. I know a blind person that has degrees from a private university. He's a really nice person and extremely intelligent. The only reason he is blind is because he was a premature baby and given too much oxygen in his incubator.

Some people who appear to be blind may not be totally blind. "Legally blind" is only effectively blind to about 20 feet. They cannot drive, and might not be able to see across a street.

But they could still see closer objects, such as a keyboard. Obviously, the text size might still be made larger, but they can still see it.

That is very simple! I grew up with a few blind kids. They are TAUGHT to move their eyes and look AT things, even though they can't see them. They are also taught how to "gesture" in conversation, even though they can't see the gestures at all. It is part of the standard learning for blind children in America.

I suppose they are just following what their ears hear.
