I'm not sure. Have you changed your diet in any other way?
A quick, cheap method that's been around since the 1800's and works like a charm is 1 TBSP of baking soda in 4 Oz. of water, mixed well. Just drink all of it quickly and you'll feel better in about 10 mins.

Drink bottled water and see if it helps. There is a type of hernia that occurs with acid heart burns. Spicy foods make it worse, Try eating a blander diet, Stay away from Junk food places, and they tend to have a higher rate of fats in the diet they serve, which can produce indigestion and heartburn. Do you get indigestion often with heartburn ?

I would suggest that TRY drinking MILK regularly.
Without Coffee or any other flavor.
In India we add a small clove of CARDAMOM to Milk and then boil it. Add sugar and it tastes great. take it BEFORE going to bed at night. It ll also improve your sleep!
Also totally CUT down on spicy and OILY foods. That includes pizza, burger, colas etc.
try taking a VEGETARIAN diet for some time. You can eat fruits and veggies. fresh fruits- mostly NON CITRUS like apples, banana etc will also go a long way in giving you relief.
but TRY THE MILK Thing with cardamom. It works!!

I had the same thing happen to me! Water gives me terrible heartburn. I bought over-the-counter Zantac 150mg. I take one every day and it kicks the heartburn. I take it in the evening because that's when my heartburn would be the worst. They also make Zantac 75mg, but if you're heartburn is as bad as mine (and it sounds that way) you'll want the 150's!
