New international Version, on www.Bible.com -- 1 Corinthians 6:19. That I know of, it doesn't mention that by name, but of the impulsiveness of it and self-serving nature of it, the Bible says that our bodies don't belong for us, but were created to serve God. Masturbation is self-serving.

Among the many fables in the Book of Genesis, in The Bible, there is one about Onan :
Onan was the second son of Judah. After his older brother Er died, Onan was required by the tradition of levirate marriage to marry Er's widow Tamar.
According to Genesis 38:7-9, when Onan had sexual intercourse with Tamar he 'spilt his seed upon the ground' because the resulting child would be considered his late brother's, not his. In response to this transgression, God killed Onan.

It is in there... it's not a myth... but there's argument as to whether it's talking about masturbation.
And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother’s wife, and marry her, and raise up see to thy brother. And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went unto his brother’s wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother. And the thing he did displeased the LORD: wherefore he slew him also.”
--The Bible, Genesis 38:8-10
So, you see... the problem is that if you don't impregnate your dead brother's wife and give him an heir, God will kill you... the problem is not masturbation.

The passage is Genesis 38 (refering to Onan).
However the passage in question (Onanism -- Genesis 38) is not referring to masturbation. The case in question was Coitus Interruptus.
And that in itself (as a form of birth control) is not wrong.
What was wrong in this case (Onan, Genesis) was that the man had an obligation / commitment to have children with the woman in question -- but he was avoiding that obligation, by having sex with her, but spilling his seed.
Cordially,
John

Leviticus has all that crazy **** in it. Talks about abandoning women who have been raped on the outkirts of the city walls, too. Just ain't relevant anymore honey...unless you are jewish, live in israel and were born before Christ changed all the rules. ( Love God above all else, your neighbour as your self and keep the 10 commandments ). That's it. That's enough for most people to concentrate on without worryng about masturbation.

There's one instance in the Bible in which God kills a man for "pulling out" instead of allowing things to run their natural course during sex with his wife because he doesn't want to get her pregnant. Some interpret this incident broadly to condemn any sexual acts that deposits semen anywhere other than inside a woman's vagina, whereas others interpret this incident narrowly and take into account the man's selfish reasons and neglect of his wife's desire to have children.

It actually says it is better for a man to plant his seed in the belly of a whore than to let it fall to the earth.

I don't think the phrase "Spill your seed" is in there, I think it's "Spread your seed"
