If you've given a gift at the bridal shower, are you suppose to also give a gift at the wedding reception?

If you've already been quite generous with your shower gift, it's not necessary to send a second gift. However, a token gift of some sort might be thoughtful, if you are feeling 'incorrect' about sending nothing.

Mail or personally deliver the gift sometime during the 2 weeks before or 2 weeks after the wedding day. Don't deliver it to the reception. Receiving gifts at the wedding just gives the hosts more to worry about: keeping track of who gave which, protecting the 'loot' from theft, transporting the stuff home, etc.

It's customary to give a gift at the wedding reception because this is for both the bride and the groom. the gift you gave at the bridal shower is specifically for the bride (taking into account that the ones invited to the bridal shower are relatives and very close friends of the bride's). Gifts need not be expensive anyway. Sounds bizaare but sometimes gifts that are more personalized (shows the depth of your relationship with the couple) are the ones that are appreciated more.

Yes. The bridal shower is completly different. A gift for the bride and groom is proper at a wedding. The shower is something special for the bride to be.
