Interesting question! I guess though that the books on NDE's don't cover the suicide angle because 1) a near-death experience is the same regardless of what caused one to be almost dead and 2) if one was to talk about seeing relatives, etc. in an NDE because they were attemptiing to kill themselves, more people might attempt suicide just to see (and have someone there with them to revive them - sick, but then - people can do some really strange stuff)

The Bible says that the dead are conscious of nothing at all and that the wages sin pays is death. So, a person who commits suicide would be in the same deathlike non existant state that a person who was in a fatal car wreck would be. The only sin which God will not forgive is willfully teaching lies about him once you really KNOW the truth. That is equivalent to attempted (or maybe accomplished) spiritual murder of another person. The person who does that will not get a chance to be resurrected at all.

I'm Pagan, not all believe as I do but this is what I think.
I believe in reincarnation. I believe the purpose is to learn while we are in physical form and share what we have learned when were not. I believe it is wrong to purposely and knowingly kill another person, that includes yourself. I believe there is some kind of punnishment in the afterlife and that you also have to learn from it in your next life.
Suicide is absolutely the most selfish thing a person can do. The grieving family never really accepts it, they are angry, they feel guilty, but no matter what they still love that person.
I think the lesson they would need to learn in the next life is self sacrifice and service to others (the ones they hurt).

Good question was about suicide. Yes, according to Hebrews 11:32 - Samson who is one of the heroes of the faith and committed suicide was with the lord.
I'm not a Catholic, but if you want to know where the Catholic Church stands, read point 2383 in the Catechism and you will see that God has a special place, a remedy for those he loves and who commit suicide.
I have known people who have committed suicide - people that I respected and even Christians and certainly God has the answer for all of our depressions and problems.
He is such a tender, loving savior. Listen to Jesus in John 14:1, “Let not your heart be troubled”, then down to verse 27, Jesus said, “peace, I leave with you. My peace I give unto you - not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled neither let it be afraid.". You know how you can have peace? Psalm 119:165. “They that love thy word have peace.” It is because we are not in the Book daily. This is our strength and then prayer – Philippians 4:6-7, “Be anxious about nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication let your requests be known unto God and the peace of God which passes all understanding shall keep your heart and mind.” You don't have to carry these burdens. Listen again to Jesus in Matthew 11:28, “Come unto me all you that labor and are heavy laden with the burdens of life. When you come I will give you rest.” Give the Lord a chance, today. Get into the book and on your knees in prayer.

I guess it depends because your question is a little confusing. If you ATTEMPT suicide, then you don't actually die, so your soul doesn't go anywhere. However, if you do commit suicide then I believe you start over with a whole new life because you gave up and didn't learn the lessons of life you were actually sent here to learn in the first place.

don't know but i'm going to watch this one coz it'll be interesting to know wot others say.
i personally don't think anyone could know since they are still here, but also remember that the brain can do some pretty weird stuff under any situation...near death included.
good question!
btw...i am a christian...i've been born again etc...for years...and i always think that it is just arrogance that anyone will tell you 'you will go to hell.' these people do not know who is going where! only God knows that...i've heard this, so many times and heard the scriptures that 'back it up.' many times.
it's WRONG to say that. only God knows...only our LORD knows..it says that in the bible too.
you cannot get any more simple than that....you do not know what is in the hearts of each individual..only God knows. how many 'christians' that you have known fallen from grace so to speak....what do you think happens to them when they die...you do not know!
'christians go to heaven...'
'non christians don't'???? now there's a huge debate...whose to say who is christian or not...???
absolute rubbish!!!
only God knows
kudos to lynnbtohs....i totally agree.

God is the final judge. Who's to say the reason for the suicide. Perhaps it was mental insanity or chemical imbalance. We can only mourn the loss.
I don't believe in a Hell of eternal burning torment though. I beleive in rewards and progression that are equivalent to our actions in this life.

Good question.
Suicide is not an unforgiveable sin. So the person's destiny depends on their other life choices (if they committed their lives to Christ, they will go to heaven).

The bible says, "The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ." So if you have accepted that gift, you will go to Heaven no matter what, else you go to Hell
