Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return..... doesn't really matter whether it's fast, like burning, or slowly, like decaying away in the ground or in a crypt.

I never understood why some think it is important that their miserable bones and rotting flesh should be preserved. what is it all supposed to be doing down there anyway?
Here's an interesting fact that few people know: There is a kind of organism that lives underground that acts as nature's undertaker. If the body of a person or other animal is put in the ground these little guys will clean it up, completely and efficiently, Because of this it is a myth that it is a health risk to simply bury someone in the ground. So there really is no reason not to.
It is probably even better than cremation because of all the mess and pollutants of a fire.

It's efficient and ecologically sound, as far as I know. I like the idea of cremation. I like the idea of my ashes being used to fertilize roses. Might as well make use of what's there.
The body is just a shell. When you die, the essence of what made you "you" isn't there anymore. What's left is just a bag of bones, sinew and muscle. Why not burn it? It's just remnants after all. That said, certainly it's important to honor the dead and perform rituals of closure for the living. But I see no reason not to burn the body and then put the ashes to use.
I like the idea of my ashes being spread around in the dirt, and going back to Mother Earth. I like the idea of starting all over again and going back to our source. I think lead-lined caskets are laughable, and are only for those who think the body is real, or who doubt the existence of a soul, or who harbor some rash idea of resurrection or eternal life that involves a physical body. Sorry, folks... when you die, it's for a reason. The human body isn't made to last forever!
Please, use me as rose fertilizer! :) But if not, please do what the Jews do and drill a hole in my casket so the bugs and worms can eat me. I'm not there -- the essence of "me" departed long ago. I'm happy to be worm-food because worms and bugs need to eat too! LOL
Cheers, K who does not fear the transition of death, but would like to go without pain, thank you very much!

Many Indians cremate the body through burning only. We feel sorry for the death of a loved one, but, the cremation has to be done. No other go.

It really doesn't bother me...i would be dead anyways and why should my family or me have to pay for an expensive box to go into the ground and a stone with my name on it. Being buried costs a lot of money and cremation just seems easier on everyone. My mom has a problem with being cremated though. She won't tell me why.
Besides....sooner or later the earth won't be big enough for the living and the dead....there just isn't enough space.

I want to be cremated. They can now take your ashes and press them into diamonds. They are not white diamonds, the examples I saw were pink. Then let my family and friends have them. My wife however does not like this idea at all.

The majority of people I've know over the last half century were cremated and the ashes scattered. That is my choice, as well as that of my parents. Eternal interment has its limits, as the Japanese have learned.

It doesn't matter to me in the least what happens to my body after i die. If you think about it though cremation sounds much better than your 500 year old half decompsed rotting flesh being eaten by worms under the ground.
As for my family members, it wouldn't bother me either.

cremation good, intered into the ground bad...
donated to science is cool, as long as you are burned after.
but i dont want my ashes kept around for ages with the rest of my family. they can keep a picture of me. not a pot.

If my family member wants to be cremated than their wish will be fulfilled but as for myself, no cremation here.

I already have my plans for creamation written up. My family is into it too. Its just so much cleaner and nicer, not to mention easier to store and cheaper than a rip off funeral. And by the way, your dead, so why would you care? Just go the easiest way, CREMATION!
