Why are people so damn cruel to other people on here?

I have just started doing this about 3 days ago. I am aware that people come to yahoo answers to hear advice and opinions. But I have noticed somethings else. Some of the people who answer the quesions leave smartass comments and are really rude to that person. Some of these people on here can be very touchy and sometimes any little bad comment could set them off into the wrong direction, as far as hurting themselves. I guess what I am really wanting to know, is why people have to open their big fat mouth if they have nothing nice to say? And why do they say it in the first place?

Because those people have no life. Don't take them seriously. Everyone here should ignore those idiots. The reason why they say all those stupid things is because they don't have a job, they do drugs and drink alcohol and just don't care about anything in this world. I wish that all of these idiots would just get a life instead of trying to make others miserable. I used to always report them by clicking on the report button but now I've just given up because I know that Yahoo will just keep on letting these idiots say stupid things every day. I think Yahoo shouldn't even allow rude, crude, sexual, or other bad comments/questions on here.

Note: A lot of people keep saying that teens are the ones saying these things. Well, guess what people?! A lot of them are coming from adults who are predators, who are looking for kids to kidnap and do other bad things. So stop saying that kids and teens are the only ones saying stupid things. There are a lot of kids that are actually much smarter than adults. I'm not a child but I'm an elementary school teacher, volunteer at a day care, and babysit my nephews. There are many wonderful kids in this world!

What you have to realize is that it is pretty much the same a the "bully." Unfortunately there are some in life that only find their worth by putting down others. Sometimes that seems easier than to bring yourself up. We have a whole generation that grew up watching "Seinfeld" which was just a show about mistreating others and that in large part is what we have become. The funny thing is, they people who write the cruel and unnecessary remarks are the ones who truly suffer most. Instead of trying to help they act out to appear that they don't need help. Don't take it personal and learn to pity small minds.

I agree. I almost always give a thoughtful and hopefully helpful answer to people. I think what you are seeing is what is out there in the world today. Too many people just aren't very nice. Sometimes I will give a humorous response to people who obviously ask silly, nonsensical questionse who are just trying to get a rise out of others. But when someone asks a serious question, I think we should all try to be considerate and help that person in a sincere way. I wonder if you will receive a bunch of smart "***" remarks to this questions.

I believe it is the power of ambiguity at work. Most people online are more confident to say bad things to people they
1) don't have to answer to
2) get points for doing so
3) have personal issues to work out and find solace in being jerks online.

if they had to really take responsibility for the answers they provided, then Yahoo! Answers would be a more intelligent forum. Personally I think people who can't articulate themselves properly shouldn't be taken seriously. If it's not nice, understand that they have problems and move on.

I think the reason they tend to be cruel is partly the age group (most on here are teens & also the fact they want the two points for answering, therefore they will leave any answer albeit sometimes not a nice or even intelligient one

Maybe people just don't want to hear the truth. Granted there are jerks on here that have nothing better to do than to irritate others, however, you have to realize "THIS IS THE INTERNET" and everyone needs to stop taking things to heart. If you need SERIOUS advice, see a shrink, otherwise, just ask Q & A.

I agree with you,you know what you can do,if you find some one offensive,you can always report them.People say these things because they feel like "they can get away with it",because know one really knows who they really are, and because they feel bad about themselves,so they say mean things as a way to make themselves feel better.i THINK IF YOU CANNOT BE NICE,THAN DO not ANSWER THE QUESTION.For example,this girl on this website asked people to rate her,because I don't want to say anything she might not want to hear,i just decided not to answer her question.

I believe that you need to get intouch with the costumer services and tell them what you feel about people comments to other looking for help and others being so rude, we can make the different if this kind of answer been report .

If you have to be mean or put someone down to make yourself feel better it would be in your best interest not to be involved in things that have to do with helping others. Why dont you sit in front of the mirror and admire yourself for a few hours and then go out and get a life.

you have to realize you are dealing with little kids on this site and very unmature people that dont have a braain plus this is a free site they dont have to pay so that why there are so many kids on this site with really big month that dont know what they are talking about.they think they could say any thing and get away with it and some do.because all they are after is point this is like a game to them that all.
