Depends on the age, but tell them the truth above all. Homosexuality is real and they'll find out one way or the other. They might as well get the facts straight from their own parents. Tell them as much as they can understand depending on their age and maturity level. On a generic level, tell them that some people like other people of the same gender, and that love isn't limited to male - female partners. You don't need to go into any detail about what they DO behind closed doors, of course.
Just let them know that there are lots of different kinds of people out there, and people are people the world over. They all need love, understanding, and respect.

i tell my kids that it is normal. i have a 5 yr old son who is little fem. he was asking ? and i told him that there is nothing wrong with a boy/boy or girl/girl getting married ( i know legally they can't but i want him to know that you shouldn't just sleep around ) i figure if he is gay then he won't feel ashamed and if he is not he well grow up and be kind to those that are. also i have an uncle who is gay and he is in a relationship with a drag queen so my kids are exposed to the gay life style it is not such a shock for them. it is important to teach kids tolarance even if you don't agree with the way that someone is- chosen life or born, i believe born but that's my choice

Tell them the truth. Tell them that even though it is wrong in God's eyes, the devil has gotten to some, and they truly cannot help it. Tell them not to treat gay/homosexuals any different, but to realize that it is wrong.

I asked my Dad what gay people were when I was 5 and he just simply put it "Well,a gay guy is a guy that kisses.guys.A gay girl..um...kisses girls."
As a five year old I knew nothing beyond kissing,so that was the only explanation I needed.
Just tell them what you think homosexuality is in a lighthearted fashion.

I'd say you answer it just like any other question they might ask. They have a right to know. Just explain what it is, and PLEASE - for the love of GOD- don't tell them it's nasty or wrong. We don't need anymore brainwashed people out there. Just tell them what it is and try to promote tolerance and understanding in your children. Good luck.

Ohh, that usually happens once in a while
My wife and I talked about it and planned it all out.
We explained it to our daughter, when she was about 11, we just told her people like the same sex. She was all confused though.
We didn't say it is wrong nor right, we wanted her to choose what she thinks.

tell them instead of a man and a women that love eachother like mama and papa, say it's two guys or two women that love eachother, and if they are old enough let them know it is a sexual preference, and make sure they know it's not something that you are supposed to hate someone for, and I would let them know they are supposed to like the opposite sex, so they don't get confused at first about it.

You tell what you know just like you did when they asked about sex. Make the information be age appropriate.

I teach my kids tolerance....period. You must teach them respect and tolerance. Right or wrong.....we are not to judge. I dont judge gay people, and my kids certainly never would. If you teach your kids to hate anyone you should be charged with parental misconduct. Seriously.
