Protecting our border is our inherent right as a sovereign country.
It always seems like this question is always dodged by pro-immigration (illegal immigration, that is) activists. I have yet to hear a sensible response to this question.

By the way, the "who would do your lower level jobs?" response is tired and invalid. I grew up in Ohio where latinos were less than 1% of the population and we got by just fine.

The illegals have driven down the wages so far that those jobs are not appealing to anyone but other illegals.

It is neither. There are people who don't want the border to be secure and they will say anything, however unsupportable, to try to make it un-PC to secure the border.

We don't want to pay for the poor of other countries illegally here.

Neither racist nor inhumane.

Thinking we should be the cash cow to pay for their education is at least as racist and inhumane, in my opinion.

Reason #

1. No terrorist suspect has ever been aprehended coming from south america. However in Canada, a lot. Why not build a wall between Canda and U.S?

2. Taking jobs away from legal immigrants? We are all immigrants here by the way, legal or not. I never have heard a complaint about China or India taking the real jobs, not the labor ones.

3. It is inhumane to point a gun at a defenseless child trying to better hi/her life without doing anything wrong but crossing a political imaginary line. Children dont comprehend that. Tha is inhumane.

4. I would keep on but I hope that this is some worth to you.

How can you not blame people to think that this is racism? Treating our neighbors like germany's east and west?

Comparing the mexicans to terrorists that were the cause of 9/11?

Absolute Racism.

Stop HR 4437!!

What do you mean "sensible response"?
Why National guard should "secure" the border betwen your country and ours? do you really think our people is dangerous? You better read the story and you'll see that most of Mexican and latino people goes illegaly the USA (not America: America is the whole continent) because they are poor. Why are they poor? Well, among many explanations, because the economy of the USA produces a lot of poor people everywhere.
Best regards.

I don't think it's inhumane or racist to secure the border if the border is sealed on both sides. I just don't think that's a long term solution. There has got to be a better solution which will benefit both sides equally.

I think it's racist when people try to stereotype and/or insult all immigrants (or other citizens due to their nationality and/or skin tones and/or sexual preference).

As far as I am concerned - the bigger the Fence or Wall - the better. The reason there is no money to build it, is that the Republican prefer to give Income Tax Cuts to the Rich so that they can hire more illegals at below the minimum wage.

It is not anything more than National survival as a sovereign nation and nothing more. Whatever anyone else wants to call it is only their opinion. If our boarders are being invaded, our country has every right to defend itself. We need to go for it!

We should always protect our borders. Let them call you a racist. They will say anything to promote their rhetoric. They generally make up facts anyway. One bonehead here even compared their criminal invasion to the millions of Jews who were exterminated in World War 2 death camps. That's the worst thing I have heard them say yet.

It's a pity that the North American Indians did not have the resources that modern Americans have - not one of you petty and mean minded ex-Europeans would even be here to talk about your mean hearted immigration ideas.

not sure if inhumane because it will probably make some people think twice. but we go all over the world tearing down walls, and we are now building them at home? hmmm...
maybe the mexicans should've built a wall back when they owned half the land, to stop us from invading...

It isn't, but the pro-illegals/illegals themselves are going to be bitching, fighting, and kicking and screaming every inch of the way to the border...unless they get the sense that a vast majority of americans are against the shady business they've been perpetrating/promoting against our country for years while our politicians play stupid and go play golf etc.

Reform's a real bear, but the sooner you get started, the sooner Sen. Fatbody(and friends) sit up and take notice that their magic 'programs' do a lot less for a lot more money than americans can do with their own two hands...we need more honesty in our government, and less 'help'.

I want to see the border fence built, I want to see more states get on board with the idea of sending the illegals home, I just think that'd be really peachy. The United States is 8.4 trillion in the red, that'll never change unless we vote down the idiots that've practiced the policies that have built this massive debt up.
A great way to start reducing that would be by cancelling Congress' carte blanche to run up the debt anymore. Another great way to deal with it would be to clamp down on entitlements and handouts, which now account for something like 50% of the budget, if not more. The payola/wealth redistribution crap has to stop. And, we can stop handing more money to mexico until they PROVE that the last monies given were put to good use. Or, better yet, just cancel all foreign aid, and just build the fence.
Make it a felony, a full-blown felony, to be in the United States illegally, sentence to be followed by prompt removal from our soil, see how they like us then. 'yes, we can' pass legislation that'll result in mexico being walled off out of our economy...or, they can work on real reforms that'll result in the drug runners, the identity thieves, the human traffickers, and the rest of their domestic problems at the least staying out of the United States.
Mexico's a net multibillion dollar annual drain on the United States. For all intents and purposes, Mexico lives off america-fare. It's time for them to support themselves and make something out of their country. Mexico could be wealthy, living off its' exports.(legal ones) But no, but no. Mexico could have good schools from north to south, and from coast to coast. But no, but no. Instead mexico has government corruption, widespread poverty, and no inkling of a future. Because they didn't bother to try and build one. So now, america's supposed to feed their excess poor, the people that their economy won't support. It's the same tired sob story that's played over and over and over again, america's supposed to assimilate and absorb and pay and pay and pay. I think we should quit paying. Time for the rest of the world to study independence, instead of trying to live off ours.
Tell your city/state legislators you support enforcement against illegal immigration, and that you'd like to see measures taken against employers of illegals and strict limitations placed on
any/all public assistance, and that you want to see the police work with the Immigrations and Customs Enforcement to get people sent home that aren't in our country legally.
