That really is the problem, isn't it? One does not know. The person cant see the change in habits, and routine, where as others think they can. When well meaning people try to assist, it is interpreted as interference, and that is when the conflict of personalities collide, leading to strained relationships. Inwardly, a person, male or female, does recognise the hormone swings. Having the strength and support, is the secret. I hope this helps you
