When they travel, they stay in a hotel because it's clean and it has a bed.

I agree! If you want to know what a country is like, stay at a Bed and Breakfast. You meet real people, and have genuine contact with the locals. They'll tell you the places you shouldn't miss in their area, and suggest the best routes to travel. When you're in a hotel, you could be in any country in the world.

When I travel I often go to places where I have friends or family. At those destinations I will usually stay with them.
Sometimes, I get tired of being told where to go and what to see. At those times I will get a hotel room and take off on my own. I also will get a hotel room when I don't know people at my destination.

Beats sleeping on a park bench. Gives them a feeling of home away from home. Sometimes the beds in a hotel are better then the ones at home. I know the view out the window is better too.

When I travel, my hotel is for resting after a day's avtivities. So I am not really fussy sinceI will only just spend my time sleeping there.

Uh, I usually just overnight it at rest stops, all-night diners, and wander in uninvited at other people's houses, or sometimes I sleep in a puddle of my own urine at a park, or in a box under a viaduct, or in a stairwell in a public building.
That's when I'm not closing million dollar deals and flying across the country.

Better and more comfortable than sleeping in your car, on the sidewalk, in a bush, in a cab, the list goes on for ages.
