For years on the west coast they have been spaying at 8 to 10 weeks. Some vets still believe spaying should be done after the first time the kitten comes in season, around 5 to 8 months, which is nonsense. Call around to different vets and ask when they usually perform spays on cats.

Actually the sooner the better. They can now be spayed at like 3 months old etc. Check with your vet. This is so good for your cat/dog because they have a less chance of getting cancer. Thank you for asking.

As soon as possible. My last cat had a long battle with itty bitty kitty titty cancer because I waited until she was like 7-8 years old to spay her. Actually paid for surgery twice to remove tumors but she finally died at 13 :o(

By the way, for those who don't know: females get spayed, males get neutered...

The younger the better. When they are older they have a hard time..I would say just under a year would be the best.

In general...around 6 months. You need to get it done before kitty's first heat cycle because girly kitty are friggin obnoxious when they are in heat...plus, you have to schedule the surgery around it.
