Regarding salmonella, it should be fine. Years ago I asked a GI doctor about it and he said that the ready made cookie dough in the roles were frozen, which kills the bacteria.(That's what he said.) Still, don't go more than 2-4 cookies worth or else you risk your stomach's retaliation.

The reason I heard for not eating raw cookie dough is because there are raw eggs in it and you could get salmonella poisoning.
If there's no eggs in your dough you're OK.

jskemper says the odds are one in a million of getting salmonella poisoning. He's wrong. It's more like one in 100.

Not at all! In fact, I like raw cookie dough more than actually baking the cookies. As long as the dough is mixed well, it is basically the same as eating them cooked...just raw.

Yum!

It's a risk you're taking. Raw cookie dough has raw egg in it. Raw egg can carry diseases, such as salmonella, that are killed by heat when the dough is baked. It's up to you, though.

It's not as bad, as raw meat, playdoh or clay. . But it's not good, either. It's ok, at 2 to 4 cookies worth. But it might bother your mother or father. It will mess up the count, as to how many cookies the recipe makes.

Was it homemade? If it was the dough in a tube, you'll be fine. There are soooo many chemicals in that stuff and the eggs are pasteurized to last longer. If you made it yourself I hope you used fresh, clean eggs.
If you start to get a stomach ache with vomiting, go to the doctor ASAP. Food poisoning usually takes 24-48 hours to show up tho', so be aware.

well if the cookie dough did not have eggs in it you are perfectly safe. you may get sick from eating so much sugar though.

if it had eggs in it then there is a chance you could get samanila poisoning but it is a very small chance like 1 in 1,000,000 or even smaller.

it isn't any worse for you than eating baked cookies--nutritionally that is.
the only way you could possibly get sick is if the raw eggs you used had salomenella(sp). next time, make the cookie yourself, instead of buying a tube at the store and use pasterized eggs, or eggbeaters.
