http://www.nutristrategy.com/nutrition/calories.htm

look at this link for figuring out these calculations. I learned this in 2 nutrition classes. Here are your conversions for the foods.

There must be something else in there like fiber that is not digestible or does not contributing to the weight of the product. You will have to check the label for ingredients to see what else is in the product just contributing to the actual weight of the product.

You say it has 50 grams of protein and it looks like that is all it has of any caloric ingredient so from the table on the link I have provided you get that 1 gram of of protein is equal to 4 cal.

so you take 50 grams times 4 and get 200 cal the rest of the grams must be fiber or vitamins or something else that does not contain calories. It could even be some sort of artificial sweetener. This is not a balanced source of nutrition because it only contains protein. If you are on a diet consult a dietitian for a balanced diet. A person could not live on a product like this alone.

I have no idea on the validity of the rest of the link that I got the information on calories and foods. I just got it for you for that part. I did not read the rest and do not know if it is reputable. I just grabbed it for that part on a google search.

The most reputable diet I know of is weight watchers and the zone books. They seem to be the most healthy if followed properly. Also taking a standard multivitamin if you are not getting it in a protein powder is good. Be careful not to overdue if you are taking protein powder that might already have these or other suplemental products.

Proteins have 4 calories per gram (doesn't matter what type of protein) so 50 grams = 200 calories.

By the way, carbs also have 4 calories per gram, alcohol has 7 calories per gram, and fat has 9 calories per gram.
