To those of you who have said thank you and have thanked me you are wonderful..i want you to know for those of you who think i'm talking about the 1st ammendment, i'm not...i'm saying relax a little on the direct comments about our military...this is a difficult situation and you only make things worse for them and you actually make America become more divided in a cause we should all be united about! Didn't 9-11 get to you at all? Did it not send "red flags"? My husband was there at 9-11 too pulling security as an MP...I understand about Bush but don't say that this war has no meaning...people are making a difference...

I think most anti war Americans, myself included aren't against our men and women who are serving our country. In fact, I very positive about them and very anti-Bush.

Hello. Army soldier's wife. He was permanently disabled in Desert Storm. I'm a veteran of the navy, also disabled through military service.

Be a real american and shut the **** up about any opinion on the war, Bush, and the military? Hello? What the hell do you think America is? Have you read the Constitution, ever? There's nothing more American than blabbing ad naseum about anything, ignorant or otherwise. Do you think a single soldier over there would condone taking away anyone's rights, no matter how ignorant they are? My husband didn't want to come home to that kind of crap. My father-in-law didn't want to come from Vietnam to that kind of oppression either and you can't even begin to imagine what kind of hell returning Vietnam vets met. And most of them were drafted, not volunteers.

Yeah, it's frustrating to hear people carry on without knowing anything, but face it, if they didn't carry on, it would be much, much worse. We wouldn't be real Americans anymore, we'd be the oppressed.

So take from me and so many others in my position, the ones that served, there's nothing more important to a real American than holding up the foundation that it was built upon. Now, go forth and exercise your first amendment rights.

Well, I think you've misunderstand. I've never heard anyone put soldiers down or suggest that soldiers are at fault or shouldn't have our support. My grandfather was a marine, so were my older brother and sister, my younger brother graduated from the naval accademy, my father retired as a senior master sargeant, my other younger brother has been sent overseas and my brother in law just came back from Afghanistan.

However, I have no respect at all for Bush and think he got us into this war for his own ego and own political gain. What I think you are afraid of is that someone you love will be killed or crippled and it will have been for nothing. Bush belongs in prison, not the white house. However, I have respect for anyone who serves this country in uniform. These people didn't deserve a clown like Bush as commander in chief. I'm sorry for your obvious distress but shooting the messenger, attacking the people who speak out against the incompetence of Bush and the mistakes made in getting us into this mess won't make it any less dangerous. Some of our troops still don't have equipment that they should have and I doubt Bush cares as long as his corporate patrons are getting no bid contracts. I described the current state of the Iraqi nation army to my father; he agrees that the Iraqi army is not capable of securing the country; it would simply fall apart if we left. BTW, when my wife died, I had the coffin draped with the american flag; she was proud of her six years in the Air Force.

I haven't seen one person come up with solution to the war. You are right America is sooooooooooooo ignorant of the threats against our soil. We can't pull out because
95% of the Citizens there have no security but our soldiers. How many of these ignorant asses even voted. I am proud that my oldest son served in OEF and my youngest is in boot camp. These are men and women who want to fight for our nation and you liberal whacko's keep forgetting that your freedom of speech is gauranteed by our Constitution that these soldiers are trying to portect. Y'all already forgot 911. Why don't you look up the staticts of how many people between 18-25 die from drugs, drinking or gang violence everyday. None of those people died for you or trying to protect your freedoms. You don't like it here, then leave. No one is stopping you, try and find any other place in the world that offers what America does. Live in a border state? Well you go to a foreign country, work illegally, send your kids to school where they don't speak or write the language, and if you get sick, no free medical care for you. You liberal just make me sick. I bet you anything too, more fetuses are aborted everyday than casulties of this this war, and the first gulf war combined.
To the author of this question, you e-mail me back, I'd be proud to put together a care package.

Maybe the American people know and understand all this, but simply don't care because the men & women in our armed forces chose to wear the uniform. Bush chose to put them there. The Defense deptarment chose what they did and did not need. They have the support of Congress and the United States Federal Government. I imagine what they don't need is a housewife disreputing the very public that's supporting the fighting men & women they chose to defend, because of her own small opinion ..or PMS.

Soldierswife...wow, now that's what I'm talking about. It's funny so many come here blabbing about stupid shiit trying to make some joke out of it, when in reality it's a serious situation and these numb nuts have no respect. They think it's funny, yeah it'll be funny tomorrow when they there is nothing left.

Remember, it is the Soldier, not the
reporter Who has given us the freedom of the press.
It is the Soldier, not the poet, who has given us
the freedom of speech. It is the Soldier who
salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and
whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the
protester to burn the flag.

Thank you to all you Soldiers both present and past! Thank you for my freedom!

Another point to ponder; Except for ending slavery, nazism, fascism, and communism, war has never solved anything! (I'm hoping to a terrorism next)

first, i'd start by being a good role model and being the true American leader... and i truly share that passion with you... i know i have no clue, but i do know that its not easy to be over there, but its the best decision, only if Clinton didn't mess things up before he left office, i sincerely hope the best for you, and you truly make a point.... i wish people would stop being dumb as well, and actually think about what its like, but unfortunately, we're humans and we tend to not think about things that way... i'm with you the whole way through!!! God Bless You!!!

well said. I had 3 cousins and a friend in the army ( all out of the army now thank the lord ) and out of the four , three had to actually have that experience. they hardly talk about it .... they really dont at all. no one bothers them or questions them. its about respect and not being ignorant. my cousin only mention how he watched people he knew die in front of him. my family lets them be. sometimes its better that way. all i want is for the war to stop and our troops to come back home. my family went through hell worrying about them, i can only imagine how other families are holding up

i have nothing but the deepest respect for all of our soldiers fighting overseas.

but isn't one of the best parts about this country - one of the parts most worth defending - is that everyone is free to express their own opinions, no matter how groundless, dumb, wrongheaded, or ridiculous?

i mean, if i don't have a clue (and i'm not sure what it is that i don't have a clue about), i would love to be enlightened rather than cursed at...

And for those of us who have close friend who have been deployed, and are going back. And close friends who are spouses of those who have been deployed.

I understand your anger at people who don't have a clue. But not knowing details about one aspect of the crisis doesn't mean people can't have valid opinions about other parts of the problem.
