Can I use a regular analog RCA cable as a coaxial digital cable for home theater connections?

Yes you may. In fact, digital doesn't care what kind of cable you use; with digital, you either have a signal or not, so expensive cables WON'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE. The only problem with cheaper wires is that you may get some RF interference. On the off chance that you do, trade up to a better, more shielded cable. Chances are though, that you won't, so PARTY ON!

If you mean a digital coax for audio, than no you will not get the same effect. You basic audio will only give you sterio sound and not digital 5.1. You can use regular anologue cables for now but if you plan on using an HDTV with suround sound for HD viewing I recomend upgrading to digital cables. If your home theatre system doesn't have HDMI than your best bet is a set of component video cables for video and your digital coax or an optical cable for your digital 5.1

Try it but I don't think you will find that it works. If it does work it won't be even close to what you want. You don't need an expensive digital cable you just need a digital cable that's all. You can inexpensive ones but you still need one.

Use it untill you can go to store and purchase a proper digital cable.You should use the proper wires to get the most out of your home theater system.Be sure to run your composite or svhs cable for your picture then you have all bases covered to get full enjoyment from your system.

Yes, for short distances (less than 3 ft). For digital, the cable will not affect quality as long as the signal gets through. If you can hear it, and the sound doesn't break up, the quality is as good as it gets.
