I think there is a problem because she eats all day long. I am wondering if there is a problem. She was eating cookies, pizza, sandwiches (1/2 at a time). She actually eats more in a day than I do and I thought the whole idea was to not be eating. It seems to be all she thinks about. Today she kept talking about food and had to go get some miracle whip for her sandwich. then she came out with the cookies. Is this normal 2 yr bariatric surgery. She still is kind of large in her legs and rear end. Shouldn't she be eating small portions of healthy foods?

The sad fact is that some people who choose this type of surgery will fail and gain the weight back.

Initially, after surgery, the stomach can only hold up to 4 ounces, which is how the body sheds all the weight(as well as may nutrients, many patients will have some difficulty with malnutrition). Eventually, the stomach will stretch to allow more caloric intake. BUT, if the patient returns to the old eating habits, and makes bad food choices, the surgery will fail.

It sounds to me that your colleague was not psychologically ready for the magnitude of this type of surgery. Many people think it is a quick fix, but in reality, it is much more than just a weight change, it needs to be a lifestyle change.

Good Luck to you.
