Stretching is your way of preparing your body for exercise. It loosens up your muscles and gets them ready to move. If you don't stretch, (especially in your legs) painful cramps are much more likely to happen.

Stretching allows you create more flexibility in your body and helps to remove the lactic acid which settles in your muscles after activity(e.g. running) The acid settles in your legs and causes cramping and soreness. IF you stretch it helps to rid your legs of it and also stretching is very relaxing. hope this helps

Like the others said, if you don't stretch you could injure yourself. I always stretch before and after workouts, mainly because it will give you a more lean look. Your muscles will look longer, making you look thinner and more toned.

By stretching you prevent injuries, allow flexibilty and ease of movement. Cons are the opposite, injury, inflexibility, and stiffness.
