Wellness dog food is a high quality dry food that makes a formula for small dogs that is very small. Some companies make breed specific dog food. Go to a pet food store like Petco or Petsmart and look around. Many of the pet foods are actually a fairly small kibble that even a tiny dog can eat. I have a tiny shih tzu, and he can eat any of the dry food that the other's eat. Many dog foods are about 1/4 inch diameter kibble which is easy enough for even small dogs to eat.

Sometimes, dogs that are smaller have a hard time chewing the dry foods because the pellets are too big. I have a pekingnese and he has this problem. Maybe she can't chew the dry food. Also, I agree with the previous answer that wet food tastes better. It has more meat in it than dry food (which is primarily composed of potatoes and other starches).

Because wet food taste better to dogs. You can give her dry food and mix it with some wet food. That way you get the best of both worlds. I have done this with my dogs. And they love it. Or they have dog gravy now that you can pour on top of dry food and they will eat that up like crazy!

Cuz she's playing the sympathy card. Mix her dry food in w/the wet for 1-2 wks. She will resist the dry, BUT a healthy dog will not starve itself. She will start eating by day 5.

what was the dog raised on? how old? if wet dog food was introduced from birth and the dog is much older, it is one of those habits that will be hard to break, as dry kibble is not considered "food". you can always try an experiment. leave a bowl of dry kibble out for the dog to eat, and see how long it takes to disappear...provided it doesn't stay so long the dog ends up starving.

lol because it's spoiled. We feed my dog a mixture of wet and dry dog food (half-can wet, half-cup dry) and she loves it. She's small though...just try getting your dog to eat less and less wet dog food and more dry dog food. Eventually it'll be eating all dry dog food and it won't care.

If it isn't the taste it could be that his/her gums hurt. Dogs normally like to chew. If your dog doesn't chew on anything else then it could be a gum infection, a sore on the tongue, or possibly a bad tooth. If your dog does chew on other things then I would say it's the taste.

You spoiled it- slowly switch back to dry food. She shouldn't starve herself if she's healthy

Maybe the hard food is too hard, or he/she doesn't like the taste. If he is a puppy his baby teeth may not handle it well, if he old, same thing.
