as a muslim i would have to say they don't like the fact that they have to blow themselves up. many people do it out of desperation. you have to look at someone elses side of the spectrum. you see the american military, british and israeli are more powerful then palestines military. these people face hardships americans wouldn't dream of facing in this day and age. if you only knew the things the israelis do to arabs as well as what the americans and british have done you would understand. watching your family being murdered, seeing your family get displaced and being forced to live in refugee camps, having toxic waste dumped near your tent by israelis, look at the iraqis, young boys were sodomized by american soilders, one man was just convicted an american soilder for raping a 21 year old and murdering her whole family. weather you think these people deserve this is irrevelant to why they blow themselves up. these people do not have the weapons to fight back which would make it a fare fight and the only way they can take their revenge on these people is to sacrafice their own lives and blow themselves up. i am not going to say that it is an intellegent decision but if you were going through all of this you would be deeply phycologically affected. i believe it is horrible but the israelis, british, and americans do. i mean how horrible can these people be to impose such brutal hardship on these people? remember the palestinians did not go to the western civilization first and start fighting it was the other way around. muslims are not the only ones who kill themselves. i suggest you look up fighting and war tactics. even in the bible samuel killed himself to kill others. it is all out of desperation

Why you not speak English? Why you dumb? Why you no read books? Why you only watch Fox News? Why you no have no Muslim friends? Why you think all Muslims are blowing themselves up ever since beginning?
Look here, dumba$$, you have to ask yourself, "Why I ask this question?" The answer? You yourself are brainwashed by the media that is nonstop reporting violence of all kinds by Muslims. Considering that 1 in 5 people on this planet are Muslim, the media is gonna have an awful lot of ammo to perpetuate this perception.
An example:
Hezbollah rockets, which are puny and pathetic, kill 15 Israeli soldiers, 14 civilians. That's 14 innocent lives, 14 war crimes, 14 crimes against humanity.
Israel has killed over 300 Lebanese civilians, blown up power plants, bridges, residential buildings, airports, highways, in a massive campaign that only the facile think is in response to something the enemy did last week, when they probably spent months planning the strategy. Where is the outrage over these deaths? Not in the media, my friend, not in the media.
Now ask yourself if someone killed all of your family, there is no police, no courts no judges, no jails for the perpetrators, and the only way to get back at them would cost you your life, would you do it? Or would you go on living with yourself, alone and shattered?
It's not a Muslim thing, it's a human thing.

Hey, they get to spend eternity with 57 virgins. They don't get to do anything with them, but they don't find that out until after they blow themselves up. And are there really even 57 virgins to be found?

And if they blow themselves up, is it any great loss other than the innocent lives they take with them? The world is better off without these idiots.

They do it before they get killed by the Israelis and Americans. This was not known before the start of violence against Muslims by the Israelis and Americans fifty years ago. When you kill thousands of innocent civilians by remote control (F16, B52, etc...) and avoid direct compact this will be the result. It is not only Muslims but Japanese and Vietnamese did this also against Americans. Why not to conduct a scientific research to analyze and treat the causes instead of just continue to criticize?

What a burdening task...enlightening all the Americans who just don't get it. Well, here we go again...

Islam is not about violence. People commit acts of violence. Violence is not permissable in Islam, except in cases of self-defense. In other words you cannot be the attacker, the one who starts a war.

True, some are brainwashed. They do not follow the true teachings of the Qur'an, and are brainwashed by the fundamentalist mindset. But if they actually read what is in our holy book, they would know better.

Muslims are not the only ones who are or were willing to die for a cause. The Japanese kamikaze pilots are an example from the past. Nathan Hale (American) is immortalized for saying "I regret I have only one life to give for my country". How brainwashed was he? He wished he could die a bunch of times, and he's a national hero from our past.

Forget what everyone else has answered.

I'll point one thing out.

Look at the words "Suicide bombing". Now take out the second word. You are left with "Suicide".

Is Suicide allowed in Islam? ABSOLUTELY NOT. Allah forgives all sins that you repent for (except for Shirk). However, how can you repent when you're already dead? Because it's too late. Taking your life is NOT allowed, no matter the circumstance.

Suicide bombings are done with the intention of KILLING ONE'S SELF. It is NOT an act of Jihad. Jihad is defending yourself and your families, and your religion. What can you defend if you are dead?

Prophet Muhamad said, "A man was inflicted with wounds and he committed suicide, and so Allah said: My slave has caused death on himself hurriedly, so I forbid Paradise for him."

Abu Huraira narrated this Hadith from Allah's Messenger: "None amongst you should make a request for death, and do not call for it before it comes, for when any of you dies, he ceases (to do good) deeds and the life of a believer is not prolonged but for goodness."

Anas (b. Malik) reported Allah's Messenger as saying: "None of you should make a request for death because of the trouble in which he is involved, but if there is no other help to it, then say: O Allah, keep me alive as long as there is goodness in life for me and bring death to me when there is goodness in death for me."

Allah's Messenger said, "Do not wish for death, for the terror of the place whence one looks down is severe. It is part of a man's happiness that his life should be long and Allah Who is Great and Glorious, should supply him with repentance."
