In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.
The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of God plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.
Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.
Oddly, proof for The Christian satin/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.
Other hints about satins role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the satin idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

Satan is as real as the Easter Bunny or the Tooth Fairy.
And that comment about Satan preying on victims. Do a REALLY BIG search of all the Bibles on line and you will find that Satan's only criminal charge is dissing God. Not even a misdemeanor in real life.
And as for RULING THE WORLD, Satan doesn't rule, Santa Claus does, just follow the money. Boy do you have it all wrong.

Satan is a real spirit being but there is no being "like" God. Satan was once created as a beautiful angel and given trust and responsibility on earth. When he betrayed God by lying to Eve, he lost his good relationship with God and years later he was cast out of heaven down to the earth along with all his demons.

EVIL is LIVE spelled backward...we created the concept of Satan to balance our view of God as perfection and goodness. We couldn't deal with the idea that God could embody both.

He is a metaphor.
If you believe God is an actual physical being then you must believe Satan is a huge horned beast that lives in the center of the Earth.

Satan must be real because he is the opposite of good. If good exist then so is evil. why do people kill? why do people love? are these just emotions of a human behavior? science cant even explain the full extent of evil, while goodness comes when you least expected

Well Satan is a fallen angel. He is EVIL and evil may dominate this world but God will win in the end. Love prevails over evil always. The devil will not win, he is always tempting us, but with God's help we can resist his tempation.

Neither Satan nor God are sentient beings. I believe three things about these deities: 1) "God" (by whatever name it is called in respective religions) is purely symbolism for behavior that leads to self-denial and "absolution into singularity", (in other words, becoming one with something greater than you). The God(dess) influence represents the right-hand path and was once (and still is in some religions) represented by the up-pointing pentagram. 2) "Satan" (by whatever name he is called) is symbolism for self-gratification and leads to rebellion from singularity (it is thought that rather or not one came from "God", one can prove more productive if allowed to travel one's own path). Satan represents the left-hand path and is represented by an inverted pentagram. 3) If in fact any sort of devine force exists, it is simply the balancing force of nature indistinguishable from the world itself.
But to truly answer your question, these are the Nine Satanic Statements as they appear in The Satanic Bible.
1. Satan represents indulgence instead of abstinence!
2. Satan represents vital existence instead of spiritual pipe dreams!
3. Satan represents undefiled wisdom instead of hypocritical self-deceit!
4. Satan represents kindness to those who deserve it instead of love wasted on ingrates!
5. Satan represents vengeance instead of turning the other cheek!
6. Satan represents responsibility to the responsible instead of concern for psychic vampires!
7. Satan represents man as just another animal, sometimes better, more often worse than those that walk on all-fours, who, because of his “divine spiritual and intellectual development,” has become the most vicious animal of all!
8. Satan represents all of the so-called sins, as they all lead to physical, mental, or emotional gratification!
9. Satan has been the best friend the Church has ever had, as He has kept it in business all these years!
Ave Satanas!

Satan is very real. He only has the power that God gives him. He knows that he is doomed so he is taking as many people as he can with him.
