I'd say it's like any other working/living environment. You'll have people who get along, other who merely tolerate one another, and some who would rather not be in the same room. I would think there is a certain amount of professional courtesy among them though.

The politics at educational institutions can be intense and very messy.

In general though it is the same as other work places, some are great and the employees get along well, others are very poor and many argue.

I think one difference between the schools and industry is that many teachers are their primarily for the students and they believe there was is the best and only way to do things and they believe it passionately.

I would think that it's the same for any job: you get along with some of your colleagues and not with others. In my experience, though, those who don't get along tend to remain civil publicly and find ways to achieve their goals whether they get along with their colleagues or not.

My mother teaches at a middle school and she hates all of her co-workers. She's only there for the students. She has told me, though, that half the faculty is sleeping with each other. The broom closet must come in handy.

Some do, and some do not, just like any work place teachers buddy up with the teachers that they have something in common with.

I would say most of them. There's always a few that cause problems and they don't stay working at the school for long.
