some places don't have adequate public transport systems

Because many people have to drive to and from places, like the airport to hotel or condo. Or from the hotel to a Restruant. If they have a destination that is farther than walking distance, it is better to rent a car than walk. It is just easier to get around.

I've rented minivans for road trips because:
a. I don't put miles on my own car
b. Road trips are messy so why not mess up a rental?
c. The extra room is convenient
