I had about 3 meds prescribed to me and have no prescription coverage. After I got the first 2 filled and paid my dr visit, I was unable to fill the third which was bumping close to $150 alone. How long do you have from the date a prescription is written, to get it filled before they will no longer accept it? Thanks

Why not ask your doctor if he can order a cheaper medication that has the same effects? There are so many meds and the prices vary greatly. Most doctors will order a cheaper alternative if they are aware of your financial situation.

BTW, most prescriptions have only 6 months to be filled before they lapse but refills are good for up to a year. However, if it is a "controlled" drug, it must be filled within 5 days.

It may be too late to do it this time because doctors don't always get a lot of samples of everything but next time that happens ask the doctor if they have any samples. They give them out all the time to patients that they know don't have coverage or are on limited income. They get them free from the pharmaceutical reps along with notepads, pens, etc. Don't think twice about asking - most doctors are really great about doing it if they have any of the medication on hand.

You can get a dental, vision, PRESCRIPTION, and chiropractic plan for $11.95/month. It will save you on all your meds. No waiting periods, no age limits, no limits on visits or services, 100% satisfaction guaranteed, everyone is accepted (US only besides alaska and montana), and you will save $ every time you use your plan and can be used as often as you like. no deductibles or claim forms.
