My biggest pet peeve is people who don't bag their own groceries when they're perfectly capable of doing so.

So I'm curious ... do you bag your own groceries? If not ... why not?

Of course this doesn't apply if your store has a bag person.

The store where I shop has baggers, but if they're busy at another check out line, or out getting shopping carts from the lot, I will bag my own. I'm really picky how stuff is bagged anyway, and no matter how I organize it on the conveyor belt, it never gets bagged the way I want. I actually prefer to bag my own most times. This rule doesn't apply if my kids are acting up and trying to climb out of the cart or having a temper tantrum. If that happens, I stay with them and try to calm them down.

I do when I have more than a couple of items. I work at a Super Wal-Mart as a cashier and I know how much faster and easier it is if the customer helps. Running a register is much harder than it looks and all cashiers are grateful for the help. I am especially grateful because my left arm is injured and I can only use my right, which makes it harder, particularly because I am left handed.Plus, you don't want some of them bagging the groceries for you, some people tend to throw everything together.

If there is a bag person....no. That is what he/she is there for. If there is no one besides the cashier, by all means, I bag my own or at least help out.

Besides, I can cram a lot of groceries into a bag vs the 15 bags I have to cart in the house when a 'bagger' does it for you.

NOTE TO BAGGERS: You CAN put more than 3 items into a plastic bag.

If I am in the express line I do. Either that, or if the bagger is doing it wrong, like putting heavy things on top of eggs, or putting bug poison in with dog food. Then I will run him off. Not being lazy, but they signed up to bag groceries and they should.

Yes I bag my own groceries. I see it as I should use my arms and legs while I can and let other people do it for me when I get old.

Yeah I hate that too. There was a woman in line ahead of me just the other day with two little kids and I yelled at her, "Bag your damned groceries lady and lets get this line moving. Can't you see how important I am. Get the hell out of my way." She looked at me stunned, eyes bugging out, mouth gaping. She couldn't do a thing. So I slap her up side the head, like you see people do in the movies when a person is in shock and I say, "Hay, get with it." The kids started crying so I mock them and whine and say, "Tell your mommie to get this damned line moving. I don't want to get old standing around in dumb grocery store lines for Christ sake, I have to get to Wednesday evening Church. The woman got the groceries loaded and moved on. Then a guy comes up to me and says, "You're a real jerk and I ought to punch you in the mouth." So I mocked him and said, "You wouldn't hit a guy with glasses now would you big man. You better think twice because I am an evangelical minister and I can prey and sent you right to hell." Then he grabs my glasses with his right hand, grabs my hair in his left and hits me a half dozen times on the side of my face. What the hell was his problem?

Where I shop, before I pay for my groceries, my bags are already bagged. The store has baggers.

If the store has a bag person I don't bag them, but if the store doesn't have a bag person, then who else is going to do it but me??

or maybe you are talking about the cashier doing it? if so, I bag some of it, and usually they bag with me.
