Please see your vet for a diagnosis and possible treatment. If you have a small dog, she could also have a collapsing trachea...and that video is exactly how they sound and act! Only an exam by the vet will lead to finding out what is really going on.

What that dog is experiencing in the video looks and sounds exactly like what a dog I took care of would do. It would happen out of the blue also for a few moments. I figured it was hyperventilating from stress.

I also notice my dog does that when she gets really upset about something but not often and not quite that bad. She also throws up bile once in awhile but not often enough to be concerned and not at around the same time.

Is there something happening that could be stressing your dog out just before it happens? Otherwise just to rule it out you might want to check with your vet.

Have your dog checked out first. But if the vet doesn't find anything wrong, it might be what someone told me is a "reverse sneeze". They told me to hold my fingers over the nostrils of the dog and block the airway through the nose (it takes just a few seconds), that forces them to breath through their mouth. I've tried it and it works most of the time when my dogs lets me do it.

it could be asthma..but then it could just be mucus in her throat.

ever get a frog in your throat and no matter how hard you try to break it loose it just sticks there? that's kinda what a dog does. mine to this too from time to time. it sounds awful, and sometimes they cough up mucus. but its normal.

have your vet check her out if you worried.

It is normal if your dog has a small muzzle. Mine has them and I gently rub the neck and the wind pipe and she calms down. Also the mucus is bile/mucus. Usually it is with smaller breeds. It is normal. But if she stops eating...it may be her food. Just watch her carefully.

I have a little mustese dog. He went through a spell of that. I don't know if its the same but my dog would eat to fast and it made him sick. He would choke and sometimes through up. Hope this helps.

I have two Boston Terriers and they do this all the time. It's very common for dogs with small muzzles. If your dog does I wouldn't worry.

Yellow slimy mucus can be a sign of parvovirus! Please get that dog to the vet, FAST! Tonight, if at all possible!

It could be a collapsing trachea. Certain breeds have this hereditary condition. When they get excited, their airways collapse, they just need to calm down to start breathing normally. I know small, short-faced dogs tend to get this.

A trip to the vet is in order. Allergies are really a problem for animals this year.
Good luck, I hope all is well with your little one.
