If the bowling ball was on the ground like a golf ball, then sure, I would break the bat by hitting the ball. Otherwise I would not.

ya if it was someone elses bat and if i got $200 or more. also i would want to be as far away as i could with hitting it. after all the question said attempt. i could attempt to and not hit it and get the money.
