He got them at a Halloween carnival last year. He wasn't the only boy clamoring for the beads. He likes the "masculine" colors orange, burgundy, and blue. (He would not wear pink or any other "girl" color--his words not mine.) He's worn them to the fair and the library recently. After they become bothersome (or distracting such as at the library) I put them away.
He also knows how he likes his hair fixed, not "spikey" that is. He likes "man songs," which are rock songs sung by men, of course. I see an individual developing before my eyes.

Cute. I'd let him have choices, but I wouldnt do everything he insisted. Before long he'll be doing all the demanding and disrespecting your authority. Be fair and give him choices. My friends went down the same rd. with some of their kids and they ended up not appreciating anything and not respecting adults and teachers. Been working on that with my daughter. When it gets to the point that shes telling me what I will and will not do to her hair. I give her two choices. if she wont decide,...i tell her I will choose one. Kids need responsibility and choices.

Yes, my grandsons are all upset since my youngest daughter had a daughter. Now, they have to put up with pink and dollies, and think they can't play with guns around her. They do(the 5 and 6 year olds at least)still have their boy dolls like a spider man and harry potter dolls and a monkey to sleep with. And they want to know why they don't make 'mans' nailpolish' so they can wear some like the baby.
