I would say he is definitely ready. Don't wait too long or it will be harder to train him. One way is to take all his clothes off and let him run around naked. Tell him to tell you when he is going to go # 2 so you can put him on the potty. If he h=can tell you this, he probably can tell you when he pees. Have him drink lots of fluids so he will go when you want him to. Some people can train this way in one or two days.

Just stay the course for now. Let him take it at his own pace. If you're not using Pull Ups yet, you could try them and see what happens.
If he tells you after he 'poops' he's getting the idea...if he tells you before, he really is getting the idea. If he's telling you before, start asking if he'd like to use the potty. Either way there's nothing wrong with getting a potty chair for him to see what he thinks about it.
Just be careful with putting pressure on him. You don't need to train him - he'll figure it out when he's ready. No need to add stress on him and you. What is it they say? Slow and steady wins the race...
If he uses the potty, praise him. If he doesn't, do nothing - just keep changing his pants. He'll figure it out. (I have three kids - youngest is 9).

Just introduce the potty, don't be pushy. Kids do it on their own time. 16 months is young for a boy. Mine just turned 2 and he has kind of potty trained himself. One day he just said pee and asked for his diaper off went in and peed. Now he barely has a wet diaper. But he has an older brother and dad to watch- I think that helps. My oldest was just 3 by the time there were no more diapers.
oh BTW if you are gonna teach him sitting down first you gotta also teach him to hold his penis down or it is gonna be a big mess. If you buy a lil potty chair research them and find one that moms of boys reccomend- it's gotta have a good guard!

He seems like he is ready. Sure i would definitely give it a try, He seems like a smart little cookie. Good Luck
My sister would put a few cheerios in the potty , and tell her son to aim at them. It worked. I hope he still has a septic system!! lol

sounds like the signs are there. you have to be very dedicated. take him to the potty 15 mins after eating/drinking. and also every hour when he is awake. it should take a week or 2. praise him even just for sitting on it, and even more when he uses it. let him grow comfortable with it, and be patient
