His family was Pagan Idol worshipers he himself converted to Judaism but was rejected when he started claiming he was a prophet.

He didn't have much of a religion. he didn't like the worhsip of pegan gods because while growing up, he saw his father make the idols so he knew it was man made. He would try to find the true way by going into a cave and praying, which is when the revelation came and with it, part of the quran.

ALL the prophets of God had no religion , that's what made them prophets, it's the people that put the religion around them.

It was the same religion practiced by Jesus, Moses, Abraham i.e. worshipping one God. It is not the Islam that was created by Arabs after Muhammad, it is not Christian that was made up by people after Jesus and not Judaism that was started after Moses.

The prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) practiced Islam and he was a Muslim (follower of Islam.)

This religion only testifies that there is ONE diety worthy of worship (Allah) and that Muhammad (peace be upon him) was His Last Messenger.
