My cat had the exact problem 2 years ago. I took him to the vet immediately when I realized he was gasping for air. It turned out he had liquid all around his heart in the pericardial sac. The vet tried removing it, but it just came back. He died the next day.

He may have swallowed something and it's lodged in his throat. If this was your child what would you do? When you have a pet, it is your duty to take care of them. Do you think the cat can call 911 or jump in the car and drive itself to the vet?

Please take it now. There are emergency hours at any clinic. Call.

do not wait. keep him as quiet and in a dark carrier on taking him so the noises and lights dont make him really nervous. has he been eating and drinking? has he swallowed something and it may be caught. also how old is the cat?he could have respectory problems or asthma. take him asap to the vets

Here's a tip: Call a vet. There is most certainly something wrong with him. Get him some medical attention, pronto.

If he cannot breathe, then yes. Obviously you think so, or you wouldn't ask the question. Head to the vet, now.

try this, its effective. get a sugar intended for pets, mix it with water and then a small syringe, about 1cc per hour, for her to drink. if it didn't effect for a couple of hours then its time to call a vet.

obvious, take him to the vet, but to give him the nutrients he's not getting by not eating, feed him pedialyte through a syringe
