That's absolutely NOT true. I abhor the war Bush has started over in Iraq, but I wish nothing but the best for our men and women over there. I hope they get their job done and get home as soon and as safe as possible. My own father retired after 20 years in the military. I'm thankful every day for our armed services. Yet I don't get that people think you have to support Bush in order to support the troops. Someone please explain.

You can't support the troops if you don't support the mission.

Interesting that you asked this. I was thinking about this a while back, and here is what my take on it is.
"Support the troops" is a load of crap. Sorry, troops. Our military is commanded by the Civilian government. This government is run by politicians. Therefore, the wars they get us involved in are almost always for political reasons, and Iraq is the most political of wars this Nation has seen in years. If you don't support the politics of a war, how can you "support the troops"?
There is another aspect to this. The "support the troops" thing is largely a reaction to the way that soldiers were treated, or mistreated, after the Viet Nam war. And that treatment was wrong, very wrong. Out of fear that it may happen again, this catch phrase has been bouncing around the nation over Iraq. Well, you neither need to support the troops in actions you don't agree with, NOR should you treat them poorly on their return for doing the job they are commanded to do.

I personally support, admire and respect our troops all over the world, especially in dangerous Iraq as they are doing their best. Many adults in this country feel that if you don't support your president, you are anti American, you are not patriotic, you like to question authorities, you don't care about our troops, you don't like democracy and you don't love our country. That's absolutely Not TRUE! I will not support Bush because he is our president. Bush is not infallible as he finally admitted that he made so many mistakes in Iraq. Bush has proved to the whole world that he is arrogant and incompetent and lost control of Iraq. However, I don't approve of Bush, but I still care and love our USA, I am still patriotic and proud to be American.

Freedom of Speech. Education. Common sense! Integrity. You don't have to support an idiot. Freedom to vote for candidates from local to executive office. It is our responsibilty to act in our own best interests. Every individual as a citizen of this country has an obligation to make a difference in their world. If you are for a specific candidate and bash me, why then are not registered to vote. VOTE! Actions speak louder than words. If you want a better standard of living, it takes a nation to empower one person to lead us in that direction. Bush, brought us backwards, created enemies, more debt, more death for what. To look good! For whom, the American people or the Republicans, the rich, the cronies. Bush had a hidden agenda from the beginning of his Presidency! It takes courage to really do what it takes for this country. Watch these videos below. Try to look outside the box and not get upset at the possibility of hearing the truth.

This is the way i see it.

Not matter the cause it is our duty as American citizens to support our troops no matter what.

As for the cause and the reason we are there, that is just politics and politics suck.

I vote for the best person i feel won't jack us to the wall and hope for the best.

I say support our troops no matter what.

And I can say this:

If any company on American soil can't support our troops I can't in any good spirt support them.

TARGET can kiss my a**

Well because you have to support what we do in order to support us. You want your cake and be able to eat it too and sorry I have no respect for that kind of attitude. I may disagree Joel Stein and guitargadfly but at least they are honest. So everyone here just take a step back and say "Hey soldier I disagree with what you are doing so I will not pretend to 'support' you here's my yellow ribbon back." It won't make you unpatriotic, but it will make you honest.

I say this not to only liberals. I think that if the Christian Right realized that we aren't heading to Iraq with a bible in one hand and a rifle in the other we'd get allot of yellow ribbons from them.

It somewhat relies upon on why the two could bypass into war. Even interior a similar u . s . there must be contradictory help. look on the US, there have been extensive-unfold protest interior against the Vietnam war interior the 60's, the persisted Iraq war is critically criticized via many American politicians and electorate. i think of that is incorrect to declare "maximum remote places chinese language love Japan." on a similar time as many chinese language human beings, remote places or no longer, do no longer help the CCP, virtually none of them could like the country of Japan. the greater youthful era could desire to stick to the eastern custom of anime, song etc. yet i don't have self belief any of them could sense any love for Japan as a results of previous recent background between the two international places, at maximum it would be "no longer dislike". different than pop custom i'm no longer able to think of of something that supplies you a chinese language individual a reason to commit his like to Japan.

I agree with you because you're basically saying that you wish no harm to the soldiers but I really can't answer your question because I don't support the war or President Bush.

Seems to me there are many immigrants these days comming to this country that don't really understand Democracy or the nature of Republican government or Federalism. Thankful to feed into oppertunism they believe themselves obligued to be loyalists and liken the Military not as servents to the people and by the people, but members of elite samurais dedecated to the Shogun.

Totally agree! My brother is in the marines and "visiting" Iraq for the fourth time! I cannot stand Bush! He should be impeached, but I love our troops present and past!

You answered your question when you wrote

"I wish nothing but the best for our men and women over there. I hope they get their job done and get home as soon and as safe as possible"

How is it you hope we get the job done but then you are also against the job that we have been set over to do.
