Frankly, no one can get along with everyone all the time. That is just life. It is how you choose to respond to whatever is going on that defines who you are and how you act. It is a part of your integrity. Parents appear to be boring because their child has failed to understand that their parent has been there, done that, and understands the consequences of what you want to do. Why not appreciate their experiences and learn from them. Don't throw them aside or away.

I used to think the same way when I was younger and BEFORE kids. But the best answer will be when you have kids you will understand EVERYTHING. I am 29 with three kids under the age of 7 and well I used to think my parents were boring, but now I know they were just being good loveable parents.
Being a parents is alot harder than a kid things...

Parents are so boring because we're spending our time earning money to buy our children their "cool" clothes, their cell phones, their i-pods, school books, dance lessons, sports teams fees, etc., and then just when we think we've spent our last dime, a child will come up to us and say something that starts with, "Mom, I need.........(fill in the blank)." Then, we have to worry about raising our children in a world that quite frankly scares the crap out of us. When we were little our parents sent us outside, and told us to stay there until lunch. We can't do that with our children, because it's not nearly as safe anymore. We have to worry about internet predators, STD's, alcohol abuse, etc.
And guess what? All the stuff that your parents do now that you say you will NEVER do to your kids, you'll do it. And you'll be just as boring as your parents are now.

It is in our rule book. To get children to go to sleep at night, parents have to be very boring, because the children want to stay up to see what is going on all the time.

Oh sweetheart I beg to differ. I'm a 48 year old mother of four who just last weekend had over 15 of my daughter's friends between the ages of 18 and 22 over to our house for a barbeque and swim party. Some of these kids had the weirdest hair you've ever seen, tatoos, piercings, etc. We had a blast and I heard two of the guys ask my daughter why she didn't invite her mom to all their parties. My daughter just laughed. Maybe if you find your parents boring its because you don't include them enough in your life to spark their interest.

Parents and kids live different lives. Kids are learning and parents have done it already. If the parents decide to do it again, then the kids think they are wierd. And if you have done something already, you get bored doing it over again too.
Would you want your parents to hang out with you like your friends? Would you want them to dress the same?

When you are young they set down rules for your safety. When I was a kid, I felt the same way, but when you get older, you will understand why they did what they did. You will also get a lot closer to them.

Hah! My kids don't think I'm boring! They wish I was boring! They think I'm nuts! I'm always finding ways of embarassing them. Does your mom sing along with the radio when picking you up from school? My kids have told me I'm no longer allowed to shout "BOOYAH" ever again. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
See? It could be worse! ;-)
