That's not safe. In an 8-10 day period, you should aim to lose 2 pounds, 3 at MOST. It's unhealthy to lose 10-15 in such a short amount of time.

The cabbage soup diet would most likely help you lose 10 pounds in a week, but it will only be water weight. If you just want the number on the scale to go down and you don’t care much about healthy weight loss, that would work great. If you want to lose weight in a healthy way, here are a few ideas:

Avoid junk food, fatty food, fried food, processed food, caffeine, nicotine, and soft drinks.

Drink 1/2 ounce of water per pound of body weight EVERY DAY, with a minimum 3 quarts

Do not skip meals. Make breakfast the largest, lunch a moderate meal, and supper the lightest.

When you end a meal, make it a habit to eat nothing more until your next meal.

Do not eat between meals; that is a bad habit to quit.

Eat moderate amounts of raw citrus and sub acid fruits, but no sweet fruits, such as grapes or dried fruits. No fruit juices, except diluted grape juice taken a half hour before the meal, to reduce appetite. No bananas.

Eat as much raw vegetables as you want.

The only cooked vegetables should be fresh and conservatively cooked ones. Do not use frozen, fried, or canned vegetables.

Primarily eat vegetarian protein foods, and in some moderation: beans, sprouted beans, seeds, nuts, etc.

All refined carbohydrates are forbidden. This includes sugar, alcohol, white-flour products, quick oats, most packaged cereals, and processed starch.

Eat only well-cooked, unrefined brown rice, barley, rye, millet, buckwheat, wheat berries, bulgur, corn, and other whole grains. Do not grind them, but cook and eat them in their natural state.

Use cold-pressed unsaturated oils, plus lemon juice, and possibly some herbs for flavoring.

Do not overeat, ever. It is a very, very bad habit to get into; it is a habit which can be stopped.

When eating, concentrate on quietly eating and thinking about when you should stop. Do not just relax, talk, socialize, and eat and eat. Do not listen to the radio, read a book, or watch television. Stick to your work of eating lightly of nourishing food, and quit when you should.

You will not be harmed by finishing the meal a little hungry.

A regular exercise program is needed.

Aerobic exercises are better than other kinds. This simply means exercise done out in the open air. It helps lose weight; build strength; strengthen the heart, arteries, and veins; and invigorate the vital organs and endocrine glands.

Walking uses up to 120 calories per hour while actual jogging burns 440 calories per hour. Walking is always the best exercise.

Swimming is usually done in cold water, and this triggers the body to store extra fat as protection against the cold. So swimming does not help one lose weight.

To maintain weight loss (that is, an ongoing program of losing a little weight), calculate how many calories you need each day. Multiply your weight by 10. Then add 30% (about a third) to the total. This total is the amount of calories you can consume daily, without gaining the weight back which you have already lost. Assuming that you are moderately active, eating anything less than that total amount should cause you to lose weight.

You've got to be kidding! Of course not! To lose weight the healthy and proper way, you would only be able to lose 1-2 lbs a week! You can't stop eating, cuz then your body will put itself into starvation mode and turn anything you eat into fat. That is absolutley crazy to even think you can lose that much weight in 8-10 days. When I started my dieting last year, I did lose 6 lbs in the first week, but, that was mostly water. You can gain weight very fast, but, it takes alot longer to lose. You have to lose weight the healthy way, not starve yourself! Get yourself on a program. You have to eat right and exercise! I lost almost 30lbs last year, but, it took me almost 8 months to do it. Seriously, don't try those fad "diets" or anything crazy like that. It will NEVER work. Do it the smart way. Check out the Oprah site, or maybe even Dr. Phil. I read alot of books on nutrition and exercise, and I found thats what helped me the most! Good luck to you!

Losing 10 - 15 pounds in under 10 days isn't safe. Period. You can, depending on your current weight and health, lose upwards of 8 - 10 pounds in 10 days but probably no more -- unless you are extremely obese (morbid obesity) and go on a VLCD (very low calorie diet).

With that being said, I've been helping people stay healthy for a more than 20 years and I can tell you that losing weight requires a combination of both exercise and caloric restriction but with a proper nutrition balance.

If you want to lose weight in a healthy manner, keep the following in mind:

1) Check with your physician to be certain that you are physically able to reduce your calories and increase your exercise habits safely.

2) Make certain that the calories you are eating are as balanced as possible. Finding out how much protein, carbs, and fats your body needs on a daily basis can really help keep your energy levels high all day long. The #1 reason my clients tell me that they've stopped dieting or exercising in the past is because of low energy ebbs. Splitting the amount of calories you can have per day into 5 - 6 smaller meals will help tremendously (this keeps your body fueled and ready to go and you also know that your next meal is only a couple of hours away).

Again, knowing what your basal metabolic rate (BMR) is will certainly help you determine how to be calorie conscious. Also remember that you may need supplements to help things along.

3) While exercising (before, during, and after) be sure to consume enough water. The key is not to be 'thirsty' (overtly) during this time of exercise.

4) Adding weight bearing exercise (i.e., lifting weights) will help to tone your body and the thermogenic (fat burning) effect will last long after you've stopped working out -- even if your workout is simply walking).

5) Remember that you'll probably hit plateaus (times when you'll stop losing weight) several times during your weight loss progress. This is completely normal and is only temporary but it can last for a couple of weeks at a time. It is very important to remember that even if your scale isn't showing progress, your entire body is being positively effected by your efforts.

6) Measure different parts of your body (neck, upper arms, lower arms, chest, abs, waist, belly, butt, thighs, etc.) and do it accurately. Write these measurements down and check them once every 2 weeks. This will help you remember that your body is 'reducing' all over -- not just in one particular area. If you're weight training you may actually notice a slight increase in some areas of your body (don't worry -- if you're a woman you won't start looking like a bodybuilder).

7) Keep focused on your end goal and concentrate on losing maybe 1 pound a week -- sometimes you'll lose more, sometimes less. As long as it's an average, it's okay.

8) Lastly, remember that attempting to lose weight if you are overweight is a WONDERFUL thing.

If you've just begun, keep up the good work. If you're about to begin, congrads!! I've worked with hundreds of people in the past 20 years (mostly women) who have lost (individually) HUNDREDS of pounds safely. Better still, they've kept it off -- Kay lost over 350 pounds and has been at her goal weight for 7 years now.

As for what to take (if anything), that depends entirely on what your body needs. Anyone who suggests that you take something that 'works for everyone' is either confused or deluded. For example, if you had a twin brother or sister your bodies could react completely different to certain supplements or foods on a metabolic level. If you want to learn more about what you might want to take and how to calculate your BMR, you can visit my site (below).

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to write and ask.

No way to lose more than 2-3 lbs. a week. If you starved yourself your body would hoard the fat and go into starvation mode. Youd be batttling against your body. And youd prob. end up in the hospital and have a large down-time. Keep cals between 1200-1500 a day and exercise 30 min. Thats the only way to lose it and keep it off.

I lost 10 this week, isn't that hard for me, but I am severely obese. You should work out on the bike or treadmill twice a day for at least 30 mins each time. Also, drop to 1000 calories a day, I did this to lose about 70 lbs this year.

No problem. Eat salad and keep under 500 calories a day, mostly low carb. And drink LOTS of liquids like diet soda or water and get exercise. I've done this and it works. But the pounds will come back when you go back to normal eating. This is not a healthy way, but it is fast.

Try the apple cider detox, I lose anywhere between 7 pounds a week to 10, only liquids for 4 days, then add veggies and fruit, but only certain ones, just go to a search and type in the detox diet and you will get the limits on veggies and liquids, altogether, i do it for 7 days. It works for me and I have lots of energy.
