i have noticed that after some sentences they put the word[lol] at the end. i was just curious as to what is meant by this.

Hi David,
I would imagine that by the time you read my answer that others
have already given you the answer to your question.
However, IMHO what are known as "chat room abbreviations" doesn't stop at "lol".
