Who would worship a little red goat?
Satanism is a term that may refer to a religious, semi-religious, and/or philosophical movement. The term is normally applied by non-Satanists to those individuals who worship the entity called "Satan," and advocate the triumph of evil forces over good in the universe; however, members of the Church of Satan, the most organized Satanic group, reject this common association, as they do not actually believe in a being called "Satan," and use his name only as a symbolic allusion to certain materialistic and individualistic values. Adherents of the various forms of Satanism recognize Satan as either an archetype, a pre-cosmic force, an actual living entity, and/or some aspect of human nature. LaVeyans do not in fact worship a deity called Satan, or necessarily any other deity, nor do they follow a principle of evil. This aspect of their beliefs is very commonly misunderstood due to the presence of theistic Satanists, who revere Satan as a literal bein

Wow, cinderellamirage and button21 sure are a bunch of geniuses. Wikipedia told me these "lies", you brainwashed morons.
Basic fact is: Most Satanists don't worship a little red goat man named Satan. They don't believe in the Christian concept of Satan, and usually don't believe in a god. I don't care whatever your dipshit pastor told you, but these are not lies. They are fact to anybody who is a Satanists or knows basic things about Satanism.
And no, I am not a Satanist.

There are some "Satanist" who worship Satan. However, I do understand what you are saying. Luciferians are different from Satanist , those two groups are often confused. I have done some religious studies and a common train of thought among Satanist is not necessarily evil over coming good. I think alot of Satanist believe in Self. They believe in their power of being. I would say "power" is an important word in Satanism. Luciferians believe in self as well, however the term power here would have a different meaning. I would say more self empowerment, and fore the most part the intention is to do "good" things for self and humanity. Satanism seems to be rooted in absolute power and might makes right. There have been many religions that have a luciferian thought running through it, the processes of self enlightenment.

I knew that, but it's good to see someone else actually saying it.
I think that the funniest thing about the whole "Satanism" religion is the fact that it's Christianity. Christians are the only ones who believe in an entitiy called Satan. Christians are the only ones who attribute the world's evil to Satan. Everyone else is busy blaming humans like Hitler, Stalin, George Bush, and whoever...never once attributing human badness to something or someone non human. But Christians (in an ironic turn of events) manage to venerate Satan at every opportunity that they have, all while denying the fact that Christianity is a polythiestic religion, with Satan standing in as their unacknowledged "God of Evil."

Yes, I did know that. Anton Szandor Lavey founded the Church of Satan, which has absolutely nothing to do with Satan as described by Christians. Most Satanists do not believe in god. Satan is a symbol representing the dark, animal part of our souls.

Most "Satanist" actually worship "a good time" or believe in THE SKIN OF SATAN, by that I mean, that they put on the skin of Satan, or totally immerse themselves in the moment, drinking, partying, drugging, and having sex, whatever to have a COMPLETE experience that moment. Whatever it takes to float their boat. Why get jealous when you can sleep, rest and start over tomorrow, your husband got poked last night by another guy, so what? Long AS HE ENJOYED IT; THE time wasn't wasted. Same for you! This is what its about. Living life and having a great time.
Not my opinion. Just the facts.

Well yeah, anyone who get's past the knee-jerk reaction and actually has looked into this realizes the officiall Church of Satan (the Anton LaVey version) is more a parody (with some philosophy) and satire of Christianity than a real religion. LaVey was a showman, and chose the Christian imagery of Satan to get a rise out of people who don't think.
But at the end of the day, like true religions, the Church of Satan is unnecessary. Well, I guess it serves a social function.

Well.....Yes the church of Satan does worship Satan. BUT the Satan they worship is not the same exact Satan that other religious know. Their Satan is just the embodiment of everything "anti-christian".
Really, the church of Satan is just about hedonism plus anti-christian. That's it, nothing else. They have hedonistic practices and rituals and they make fun of the catholics.
