Oh boy. Have you ever been down there? I have. And it's not that simple. First, black people make up a minority in the U.S. so it's not supprising that the majority of volunteers are white. It just makes sense. Second, the "chocolate people" from New Orleans you talk about had everything destroyed. How do you expect them to build things if they have nothing to build with. It's expensive. You have to gut the house out, which costs thousands, and you have to throw everything away because of the mold that grows on it, and the contamination from the flooding, and then you have a "house" left with studs, sometimes the celling, and the foundation, if it wasn't structurally damaged. Then you have to rebuild the whole house, buy new clothes, furniture, and everything else that used to be in there. It takes a long time. I went down with a crew of 16, and it took us 2 or 3 days to gut out one house. So get a life. And here's an idea, get in a car, go down there, and help them.

Yes... I am from New Orleans. I beg to differ with your assessment of the situation. Almost everyone here is playing a role in the rebuilding, in some way. There is a very vocal minority of people who feel as though they have the right to return without making a contribution to society. They are NOT welcome. We have not got enough housing for those who want to work.
I don't think labeling people by skin color is fair to those who work hard. I personally don't care about the color of your skin, I am more concerned with your work ethic.

Yup i'm from new orleans. If you are from New Orleans then you would already know about how lazy these people are and they think that everyone owes them something.......and....to add...
this "See Me" person.... yea... this subject maybe old but expect to hear it for as long as you live.
and... for this "Kiko" person. yea people don't do anything about their damn houses being rebuilt b/c they have people like me and you do it for them. There is no place like home. Glad i don't live there anymore.

It's kind of funny how the only people saying nobody is working down there are the people who don't go down there to work! Get a life bud! I saw plenty of black people working.... dude, they are just trying to survive! So shut up. To be perfectly frank. And before you say much more, go down there and help them.
