Corpus delicti refers to the body of the crime. The concrete evidence that will prove in court proceedings the guilt of the person charge, that such particular crime had been committed (ie. body of the victim, muder weapon/s, if a case is muder or homicide, presence of DNA and medico legal report in rape cases, docudments with forge signature in case of falsification of public or private documents, etc.). Statutory is merely an element of the crime that needs evidence as proof.

seems to me that corp del (proving the fact that a crime has actually occurred before a person can be convicted of the crime) would be more vital than simply circumstantial or hearsay evidence alluding to the guilt of said individual.
