The Bible doesn't talk much about the souls of non-Christians. All it says about Hell is that it is a literal place and state of torment. When the Bible does talk about souls, it's usually in reference to Christians.
It's a good question though.

Hell in its final form comes after the resurrection of the body...so people will have a new body that will suffer forever...it is made of different stuff that will endure forever.
Not fun.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS: you're right. Genuine repentance leads to genuine forgiveness. However, God cannot be conned by anyone (he knows all, right?). So those who make the gamble to wait until just before death probably are not genuinely repentant. Instead, they think they have a "get out of jail free" card. This is like playing poker with God and having an ace up your sleeve. God doesn't play that way.

Actually, I think you are referring to the lake of fire, termed the second death. This is discussed in Rev. 20: 11-15. It is a place where death and Hades are thrown, as well as anyone who's name is not found in the book of life on judgement day. Who's names are left out, you ask? For us, they are people who chose not to place their faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. These folks - and many there will be -- chose (for whatever reason) not to accept the Gift from God the Father. Therefore, the forgiveness and justification that Christ earned through His sacrifice is not imputed to them. They will not inherit the Kingdom of God,,,they will not live in eternal fellowship with God...they will live in eternal torment without any hope of ever escaping. In Rev. 19:20, Christ alone seizes the beast and false prophet, and are thrown alive into the lake of fire (clearly this is a real and literal place)...the first tennants of the lake of fire. Satan then joins them in Rev. 20:10. Then, all the unbelievers follow.

Hmmmm... Interesting question... But, It will feel like eternal death. The word feel is on emphasis. If someone died, the moment exactly before they die would probably sting, so in Hell, everything always stings. And your soul fells pain. If your best friend started hating you, that would emotionally sting in your soul. And that sting will turn physical because when the soul goes to Hell, it leaves the physical, so it must feel something.

How do you know a "soul" can't feel pain?
There would be nothing to fear from hell if this was the case, and that way the major religions would have nothing to frighten people into following THEIR way.
If hell does exist I imagine it will be something more along the lines of an eternity of nothing, infinite boredom. Any sensation is better than none.

I believe there are different "levels" of hell
and some will suffer more and longer times
than others.
Whether it's a literal feeling of flames or some other method of punishment, the Bible says it will be a place of torment for those who deserve to go there.
But why worry about hell when you can easily give your heart to Jesus and rest on His promises of eternal life in heaven. It's so easy to serve Him when you ask for His help.

The soul feels it. Time is the fire in which we burn, and the soul feels the constant decay life after life. Eventually, the soul will have grown enough to escape the laws of consequence and rebirth though--and that growth comes through following the teachings of the Christ and learning the importance of love.
