If you're going out for the night, and you are always the passenger, a few dollars to defray the cost of gas is acceptible. If you have to drive a long way, it's almost mandatory. Always slip a few dollars (like a 5 or 10) to them at the end of the night. No big deal, you're just helping out.

I would like to buy a friend for petrol money. I figure that if gas is about 3 per gallon, then 30 gallons of regular ought to buy a friend for an hour or so. Is that about the right price of friendship?
I don't have friends so I don't know how much they charge these days. I think I might like a friend but I don't know if I can afford one. I do have some imaginary friends and I have Yahoo Answers. That will probably do for now.

Petrol?? You must be European, in the States it's not necessary to give gas money unless you're doing someone a favor. If you just ride'n around then no gas money should be expected. But if you going out of you way $2-$4 is usually sufficient, in the states anyway.

I think it depends on the situation. If your friend is driving just a short distance for whatever you are doing, then it isn't necessary. Giving a friend a lift is what friends do. If the situation is such that you friend is driving everyone around for an evening out, then it would be appropriate to cover their meal or something of that nature to return the favor. If they are giving you a lift quite a bit, then a gift and a thank you would be nice. You could try to offer them money for fuel, but a good friend is likely to turn this down.

i think of its in elementary terms honest that u do make a contribution something as working a vehicle is an costly element and despite if she grew to become into uncertain of how u nevertheless get a loose raise out of it. think of what u might pay in taxi fares or bus fares frequent and so on. if i've got been u identity attempt to compromise a cost case in point say £15 pound each and every 2 weeks or perhaps £10 each and every 2 weeks in spite of the incontrovertible fact that it would be an insult if u went decrease than £10. i dont think of she is being unreasonable in soliciting for money as I truthfully have been in a similar subject as her as i force additionally.

Make it easy for her to do you a favor. She, after all, is responsible for maintaining and insuring the car. When you go out, you should pay, at minimum half the gas. if you're only going a mile or two, you don't have a great obligation-you could offer to fill the tank periodically.

It OK to give a few snaps on the petrol, but your friend should not be taking advantage of you.

Why not tell your friend that you think you should be contributing to the fuel expenses, and then *ask* her how much she thinks is appropriate? Isn't that the only way to know for sure?
