a heart murmur in young dogs are usually congenital and older dogs is a sign of heart disease. Not that it would kill them. A murmur is a sound given off by the heart that tells us improper blood flow to the heart. Usually throwing off the heart beat. In older dogs i would be careful as far as heat and too much exercise. Younger dogs can sometimes outgrow it.

This is a symptom of a problem. There are lots of reasons a dog has a heart murmur. So it depends on the type of problem causing the murmur, this could be a BIG problem or not so much, just like murmurs in people.

i'm so sorry. heart murmurs, counting on the reason for them, can kill. there is each and every thing from the "musical murmur" meaning no longer some thing to what you experienced. A murmur as a pup is often "dopplered" to work out what it truly is, and then if it is a few thing like SAS, it is monitored to work out if it is progressing. And it may progression as they improve. known vets won't be able to attempt this, it takes a canines heart specialist. If no progression by using age 2, possibilities are severe for a toughness. however, as you got here upon, even as it does progression, the eventual effect is lack of existence. For what it is properly worth, there changed into no longer some thing you may want to do. In newfies we in certain situations get "heart domestic dogs" even from OFA cardic cleared lines. they're given away to sturdy houses with the acute caution that they could drop useless day after today or stay a toughness. there is not any thanks to understand and little to no longer some thing almost continually to avert it. You gave him what he needed maximum, a loving homestead for the time he had. each and every canines must be so fortunate!

They can... you have to keep an eye on the mucus membranes of your dogs mouth and his/her tongue to make sure that they always stay pink. If you notice that your dog is panting and that his/her tongue or mucus membranes in their mouth are turning purple or blue this means that they are not getting enough oxygen through their bloodstream. In this case seek medical help for your dog immediately.
