I have had 3 wonderful cats across 30yrs....First,especially if your cat will be spending time outside, always have her wear a flea collar. Next, administer some flea-egg preventative(I use Program)during the "flea season" of summer. Finally, I've found little need to take any of my cats to the vet much beyond the first or second time. So....do the math:3 cats...30 years=Avg. of 10 years/cat.(actually one lived to fourteen and the others 10+)!!

flea collars are a waste of your money first of all. Your cat needs to be vaccinated yearly. Depending on how old your cat is he/she may need boosters now. Cats begin vaccinations at 6 weeks and are vaccinated every 3 weeks until 15-16 weeks old. Also a fecal check is probably in order to rule out intestinal parasties, most kittens are born with them and need to be dewormed. When you take your cat to the vet get a flea product from there and throw that collar away!!!!!

You should always take a new pet as soon as possible to the vet to establish precedence. It is also so you can regulate shots and to see about flea and tick issues. After that, if all is good, it's once a year to get booster shots and regular check up. Good luck with kitty!!

Also in young animals they are more likely to have worms. Left untreated could cause your cat to die. The worms eat the food in the stomach and then move on to the insides of the animal. When you go to the vet bring a stool sample.
