Outside around the house. I don't trust her being barefoot at stores or even other playgrounds there could be a needle or broken glass on the floor or sharp metal so small that you wouldn't be able to spot it right away. Toothpicks are also very dangerous, my mom has had 3 stuck in her foot her whole life.

I live on Maui, and lot's of people go barefoot here.. you see kids in and out of stores (even walmart) barefoot. some places are definitely icky, like the movies, because it's really sticky... but i don't see anything wrong with it. i still don't wear shoes much. never had as a child either. perhaps it is unsanitary, but so is sneezing into your hand then grabbing the door handle, money, people, etc. germs are everywhere..i'd pay more attention to the germs on kids hands then on their feet. or keep a supply of wipies in the car so you can wipe their feet off when they are somewhere particularly dirty. i'm sure a lot of people will disagree with me here. it's all about location too. here, it's very common..a sign to a local plate lunch says "No Shirt, no shoes, NO problem!" it's different here. when i went back to massachusetts, i went barefoot for two days and got mild athletes foot.. so, yeah, be aware of that sort of thing. but it's your decision..just remember..if something punctures your child's foot, you can't get angry at the shop keeper..even if it shouldn't be there..
aloha!

Well, you already know my opinions (since you have asked similar questions before), but here goes one more time:

Bare feet are nothing to be ashamed of. There is nothing wrong or disgusting or illegal about bare feet on children or adults. So, let you kid be barefoot any place he wants to be.

I used to be embarassed about feet and kept mine covered up all the time. NOW, I don't feel the same way and I am barefoot whenever possible including in public places like businesses, etc.

Besides the obvious places like the beach and the pool, when it rains our kids enjoy the lawn around our home. They love to splash in the puddles. Of course you have to make sure nothing is sharp. My kids also enjoyed being barefoot in the sandbox.

Well my son will not step out of the house with no shoes as a matter of fact , they are the first things that he puts on in the mornings. My daughter hates wearing shoes and if she could, she would stay bare foot. I would not let them go out in public places where alot of people walk with out shoes, they may get fungis or something on a dirty public place.

In our home.
In friends home - sometimes.
At the beach or pool, but not anywhere near fishing (hooks).

Keep in mind that there are many dangers - sharp objects, germs carried by others shoes, athletes feet (pool showers), bees, etc. and it's not an ideal situation unless you are VERY familiar with the surroundings.
